The first class at Sano 6 will be JK Spec and tech should start about 11:15 or so.

Guessing we'll have perhaps 20-25 racers by the time tech closes.

Since someone commented in another thread that they'd like to be able to see more of the track, I need to explain that unfortunately we don't have a camera location this year that will allow that. When the racing starts, we'll adjust the camera to show the lap counter most of the time. The camera we're using can be panned and tilted from the computer so we'll go occasionally back to the driver's panel. But mostly we'll keep it pointed at the lap counter while the races are running.

The lap counter shot would be better than the track shot. It will give us a better idea of the race happenings.

Thanks, Greg...

Sounds is terrible... but has been at previous events. I think they need a new microphone.

Mic gain is set too high, this is a usual happening. It is clipping. Greg, lower mic a few bars and allow us to turn up vol on this end.

Sorry for the quality issues with the video stream, which I seem to have ID'd as a performance issue with raceway's computer: the processor is showing 100%, i.e. maxed out.

Showing the lap counter really isn't telling us anything because the picture quality is so poor. Might as well switch back to the track action...

Guys, I know what you're saying and the base problem is that raceway computer simply doesn't have the horsepower to run the video stream encoder. I'm going to shut it down in a few minutes until can figure out how to address the issue. May go to Fry's to buy a faster box and then return it on Monday... dunno, still trying to locate an alternative, more powerful box.

I've killed the video stream for now, until I can find some way to make it worth watching. Thanks for your patience!

Just give us updates, Greg, that's better than what we were seeing and would probably be less work for you. Sounds like a permanent fix is needed.

Well, when I come to run these streams at big races, I have to use the computer that's on hand and in this instance, it just doesn't have the juice.

If you stream the shot of the drivers station at least we can follow what is going on to some degree. It may have not been the best, but it worked.

Well, what I am going to try next is to stream the raw camera output, without passing it through the Flash encoder.

Setting that up now...

OK, the video stream should be live again, this time without the Flash encoding.

What's it look like for you guys now?

Steve,

The Flash encoding improves the picture resolution about three or four times, but the processor limitation was causing the 20 frames per second going into the encoder to come out at four to six frames per second, even with the processor running at 100% capacity.

In previous video streams I've run using the Flash encoder, the 20 fps in would output at 15-18 fps.

I've lowered the audio quality a bit to see to allow me to increase the video quality slightly. Please let me know how it looks and sounds now.

Great job, Brian. And a big congrats to hometown racer Eric for a fourth place finish. That was some very close racing. In fact, congrats to all. I bet that was a fun main to be in.

Overall looking and sounding good. The view of the lap counter in IMO just doesn't work.
