Jim was one of the best in Houston back-in-the-day... always a contender for the win. I'm told that he had a shot at the '68 HemisFair race in San Antonio but was disqualified over the use of his custom-molded Lotus 40. Such infamy notwithstanding, he was a great racer and a really sweetheart of a guy.
He was a mountain of a man back then, probably well over 300 pounds. He drove a white '62 Chevy which reputedly had dozens and dozens of traffic tickets in the glove box. He apparently was still active in the Houston HO scene before his death a year or more ago, from a head-on car collision.
RIP, Jim... I remember you fondly.
