With things being as they are in the points, I think I'll stick with my original motor though and see if it lasts the distance. Thanks for all the work you're doing on our behalf and for your kind words about all the car's speed and handling.
Congratulations to Ben and Z on the winner's step of the podium and to everyone else who did well.
Commiserations to those with disappointing results.
Good luck with getting Round 11 scheduled, Mr Race Director.

Wednesday is race night at ASA Hobbies. Easiest way to set a date is to go racing, bring the cars and set a date right then and there. I called Glenn yesterday at the track but he had no ideas on time. Because it all depends on drivers and their schedules. Soooo... that's the plan right now.
Did some more thinking about the last race. The fact that the cars ran only 4 heats instead of 8 might have had a lot to do with the outcome. One bad heat can shove your entry way down the list as Paul pointed out. While Zimmerman's and Kernan's cars are easy to drive. They also had a perfect race. I remember only having to marshal Mikes car once and never touched Ben's. Some heats, four cars went around the track in a pack for 3 to 5 laps before they would spread out. I usually held my breath during those moments.
After Wednesday I shall report back when a date is set for the 11th round.

"One bad heat can shove your entry way down the list as Paul pointed out"
I not only had a "bad heat", I had the absolute worst heat of all the cars, with a car that won two out of four heats.
If the laps were about 5 seconds, on Purple I lost 6 laps times 5 seconds = 30 seconds.
Had to have been a mechanical malfunction to lose that many laps.
Unless my driver fell asleep.
If I sucked on Purple then I sucked. Oh well.

Thanks for changing my tires to make it possible to compete in this round.

Please don't re-motor my car. I see this event as a an enduro to see how far a car can go.
If it dies, it's out. The car that makes it through to the end in the highest position with having the least done to it, is the winner in my eyes.
J, seeing as I got the wooden spoon last race, and if you get time, could you please just check my chassis for flatness and to see if there are any broken solder joints?
Other that than, oil her up, clean her tires, and let her rip.
Thanks.

Okay, first off I need to give a huge thank-you to Art, Randy and Arthur's very sweet wife for hosting the 10th round of this proxy at Edgewater Raceway in Salem, OR.
THANK YOU!!!!
The race went off with-out a hitch or problem (other than a couple rider calls) and Art's wife and Randy marshaled cars for two hours with no complaint. I hope the next round goes off half as well.

The next race is this Saturday the 19th at:
Track is 110' and very swoopy with two rises on two sharp turns that require braking to plant the guide.
Wing racing avg. laps 4.2 seconds
NASCAR avg. laps 5.6
Steve King's car ran 5.2 repeated laps for example.
Even Al Bonds car likes this track!
Sure to shake things up even more.

So far so good. It's still a fair way from us, but the weather forecast is for hot dry n/westerly winds that bring heat straight across from the red centre desert of Australia. Fingers crossed...Wow, I see there is a forest fire in NSW Australia Steve. Hope you are doing well sir.

We ran the 11th race of the "Lucky 13 International Proxy" last Saturday evening. Results to follow.
20 entries took part and in my opinion, there is not a bad one among the bunch! In fact, there were no break-out cars in the lot. They are so close together that only minor slight differences separate them. Differences such as weight, balance, body style and gear ratios are the only variable.
Left to right is Hugh on red, Dave, Russ, Dan, Scott on blue, Bob, Evan on purple and Steve on black.
They stayed on those lanes till the 11th heat and then Paul swapped out Scott who wanted to go watch the Ducks game. Bob took over for Hugh on Red during the last 4 or 5 heats. But Evan, not quite yet 10 years old seems a child prodigy on purple. He beat me at NASCAR flexi racing the previous Wed. night so I let him race here.
We had a lot of deslots and accidents all through the 20 heats. In fact, I don't think the guys managed to go more than 50 seconds with-out a marshal being needed.
Heats were two minutes total. Average laps per about 22. Fastest lap of the race was Steve King's car on Purple driven by Evan at 4.3. That's 110 foot lap at 4.3 seconds!!! Not bad for a kid who is still in Elementary school huh? And to prove that it wasn't a fluke... Bob drove that car to a 4.4 on Yellow.
Only problems that showed their heads in my opinion were Tony Davey's beautiful racer who had a cut down guide. On this track the low front ground clearance tended to scrape the track surface so I used a guide from the "community stores" to bring it up to legal limitations. BUT, one wall hit (a fluke) sheared the post.
We have been having a spate of those broken guides. I personally broke two in one race on my Can-Am a few months ago till I went with a Parma guide which seems of more solid material.
Anyway, Tonys car suffered it's break on black. (Cars rotate red to black) So it only lost a few laps while I put on a new guide, then sat it out till the end when it came on again for 4 more heats. As you can see it did well, and would have favored better had it gotten 22 laps on black instead of the paltry 9.
Gary Vogel's car on the other hand tended to fish tail a lot. Even under breaking! Not sure what is up there. The tires were cleaned prior to the race and they are just as sticky as all the other entries. Glue didn't help either so I suspect that it's a problem of balance and not enough aero effect. That body has zero downforce.
Sorry Gary.
Lowrider's car got caught up in a lot of accidents that I can remember involving other cars, which is what might explain the poor results. But everyone loved how well it handled. In fact, Matt suggested it might end up being one of the top cars, being how easy it was to drive.
John Dilworth's car has been lagging behind all series and in this race it probably had it's best showing of all! Way to go John!
Well, that's all I can remember.
Matt said he would post his recollections of the race.
Results below:
As you can see, only a few laps and in some cases.... only feet set the cars apart. Many of the cars ending the race on the same lap, with only the first car to the counter being the differentiation. They were sooooo close, a great race!
Tony Davey, Bob Schafer wants to buy your car after the race so... let me know what your feelings are and a figure and I'll pass it on.
Respectfully submitted,

Nope. All clearances are good and tires are sticky as they can be once cleaned.
Traction depends a lot on weight and balance. Vogeler's car is nose heavy.
It stays in the slot.... but can't seem to get a grip in the corners. If it were my car I'd remove those decorative middle panels and put the weight right under the rear axle.
