Hello Racers,
Wednesday 11/28/2012 retro racing at 7:30pm, and every Wednesday there after.
DJ Hobbies 16567 10 Mile Rd.
Eastpointe, MI 48021
(586) 206-8654
10 mile and Gratiot.
We will race F1 and Can Am using IRRA rules.(except sealed motor rule)
The motor rule is rebuild your own! Must use all stock motor parts!
Stock Magnets,NO shimming or honing magnets.
You can turn the com, Zap the magnets, balance the arm.
And assembly the motor to the best of your ability.
This will be a major cost savings and should get racers interested.
Hopefully we can bring back some guys to retro racing
The motor rule modification is only for local racing.Unsealed motors are not legal at IRRA events

Good going Dave. Now you need to sell me a com cutter and a magnet zapper. Won't have to bring a knife to a gun fight anymore

Greg - yes DJ's has the Chris Dadds corner climb from TSS - Dave Robeling the owner has done a great job aligning and smoothing the surface and now is trying to catch up on braid replacement. There are already people doing there own motors in retro racing you just don't want to admit it.

Would you care to name names, or is this just a theory on your part, as to why you don't do better at the races?
And I don't think you can use the "IRRA™" in your advertising, since you are NOT running IRRA™ rules.

If you think people are not building there own motors or having them built and sending them in to be sealed, You just keep thinking that. I know it for a fact. You want names get off your butt and do your own investigation.
By the way have you ever finished in the top three at a major retro race. R/4, Sano, etc.

GVP

Why does it matter where somebody finishes? Does that make him any less of a racer than you or I?
I bet he's never been banned from a major retro race...
Why do you have to make statements like you do in a thread announceing a new series? You must really want to bring a positive light to Detroit Retro Racing.

No I haven't. But I DO know that whatever place I finish, I did it honestly and within the structure of the rules, and without feeling the need to cheat. Can you say the same?

Like I said,
Way to go. Now we have the Detroit Retro Series and the MRRA both with open motor rules. I am all for it.
Now if the people who wanted to build there own motors will come back and race we will get a good thing going again
Regards,
Greg.

Not quite - the only deviation from IRRA rules for the racing at DJ's is that racers can pull motors apart to true coms , send arms out for balance , realign magnets etc. - everything still must be in spec., whereas the MRRA has opened the door to a number of motors not on the IRRA approved list.

Rick,
This is true and I have no problem with both.
Question, what is the spec for air gaps on puppy dog motors? and all arms will be spec 25 degree timing too, correct.
Regards,
Greg

Is the DJ hobbies track at a residence? It looks like it on Google Earth.
Mike - No it's in a strip center at the NW corner of Gratiot and 10 MIle , if I go to Google and click where the track is it gives me the address 16583 but something is amiss with Google - if I put that address in it shows it being down the street.
