Slotblog's eBay Dashboard

Slot Cars: All scales

1/24 scale: All 1/24 - Pre-1970 - 1970-now - Unknown

1/32 scale: All 1/32 - Pre-1970 - 1970-now - Unknown

HO scale: All HO - Pre-1970 - 1970-now - Unknown

1/43 scale: All 1/43 - Pre-1970 - 1970-now - Unknown

You can help to support Slotblog by entering the eBay website via a link at Slotblog.

By using a link here at Slotblog to enter eBay, rather than typing "eBay" into your browser's address bar or using a bookmark you've created on your computer, Slotblog is recorded as the source of your purchase and thus Slotblog earns a small commission on anything you buy during that eBay session.

Honoring this request does not increase what you pay; in fact it costs you nothing, as the commission comes out of eBay's pocket, not yours!

If you prefer the convenience of a bookmark in your browser, simply bookmark this thread and title it "eBay". And when you want to go to eBay, click on your bookmark and when this thread opens, simply click on the slot car category you wish in Slotblog's eBay Dashboard.

You may also click on the word eBay when it appears in blue color in any post at Slotblog.

There are costs involved in keeping Slotblog (any internet website or forum actually) online and the costs rarely go down over time. By modifying the way you get to eBay in this manner, and by making that second click, you will be contributing to keeping Slotblog online and free to all who enjoy the great slot car hobby.

Thank you in advance for considering this request.

Hi Greg,

I would like to help out, and don't want too sound to lazy, but I already have a bunch of eBay bookmarks for specific areas, most to do with vintage in my case... if you could make a big blue link into at least the slot car section, that would make things easier...

Thanks,

Don

Leaving the house shortly, Don, but I'll add a second link (maybe more...) to the first post when I get back.

Thanks for the idea!

Thanks for the info, Greg. I'm not a big eBayer, but from now on when I go there I'll always link to it from here.

Sounds good to me.

How about putting the eBay links at the top of your post so we can just point and click without needing to scroll down first?

Will do, Steve, when I add the others links requested, which will happen in a couple of hours.

Greg,

That is OK with me. How about embedding the eBay link into the page that comes up when you hit check latest post? Clickers just have to realize the right click the link and open in a new tab or window or they will leave SB when they go there...

Greg,

Does Slotblog earn a commission percentage based on purchase price or is it a fixed amount per transaction?

Phil,

It's a percentage and a small number, less than one percent, though I don't know the exact figure.

Rather than cobble something up last evening as I had planned, I decided to think a bit about how best to set up an eBay "dashboard" in the first post. I think I know what I want to do and it will happen today.

Thanks for everyone's willingness to help Slotblog in this manner. The best way to "finance" large sites on the 'net like Slotblog is still a work in progress, though most simply cram in large levels of  advertising to generate the revenues needed. A little advertising is fine, but there are sites that go too far in that direction to an extent that stops me from viewing them.

That's not the direction I want to take Slotblog in...

OK, guys, take a look at Slotblog's eBay Dashboard which I have added to post #1 in this thread. I have also added an eBay Dashboard thread in General Slot Car Racing and pinned it.

Don, does this address your desires... well, at least your slot cars on eBay desires?

Pablo, it doesn't look like it is possible to post a generic link at Slotblog that will take you to your "My eBay" page.

Try this: the word "eBay" in the title "Slotblog's eBay Dashboard" in post #1 is clickable to take you to eBay's home page and once you're there, you can click on the My eBay button to take you there. If you have set eBay to keep you logged in, you should go straight to your My eBay page.

Steve,

I'm trying to add the eBay dashboard to the top-level navigation bar and may actually be able to accomplish that in the next day or so.

Thanks to everyone for their support!

IMO, too much info. Don't need a dashboard, all that's needed is an eBay logo to the left of "check latest posts" as the click-through hyperlink...

Rick,

Unfortunately accomplishing that is beyond my coding skills at the present time.

And Don Siegel specifically requested the ability to get into eBay in specfic categories. And I have to respond to any request Don makes...

Since eBay doesn't pay you $300 a year, how about a link to my eBay listings?

Roger,

You have a link to your eBay auctions in your Slotblog signature, of course.

And you're welcome to place a thread in the eBay forum pointing folks to them as well.

While your support for Slotblog is very much appreciated, I don't feel that your being a Slotblog advertiser means I am obligated to assume responsibilities for the promotion of your activities in other arenas. Do you?

My friend Tony Williams and i are going to Chicago very soon to pick up his mother Mamma Williams!

We are flying in on my private jet. It is hard to soar like an Eagle, when surrounded by turkeys.

We will be going to a slotcar track there to goof around and it will be Mike Swiss's that we play at!

The jolly rodger is welcome to meet us, we would love to take him out for a meal.

Mike Swiss is a cool dude.  :good:

I'm in like flint with your eBay connection, Greg.

My dog Dutch-ess, 1/2 rotty and 1/2 bull mastiff,  and Tony's three pit bulls, are going with us.

They roll their dung/smidtt in 300 dollar bills, and force unicorny mutts to smoke it. Enough said.

I'm onboard with the Dashboard. :)
