Is it legal to replace the endbell hardware on the Puppy Dog motors?

In Cali, yes.

Don't you guys use sealed motors? The authorized rebuilders would need to do that.

We can change springs and brushes so I don't know why we couldn't use different brush hoods and such. 

But then, that's why I asked. :good:

If you mean with a different style than the ones that come with the motor, no, you can't.

I'm thinking of using the same style hoods and spring cups but with different platings or even brass pieces.

You can't use those. They have to be the same type as on the original motors.
