Bill Davis, a racer in the original Tri-State Series that raced in Ohio and Indiana, Cincinnati, Dayton, Parma, Indianapolis, and elswhere, passed away last month in the Orlando, FL, area, where he had retired. He was 90. Bill was a big supporter of up and coming young racers and a pretty good one himself. Bill used Zimmerman armatures almost exclusively, having Pete Zimmerman wind them to his timing and wrap specs long before it became the norm, with much success. He was a mentor to many and a friend to all.
Bill Davis finished second in the "C" group at the MAR Nationals at Parma in the Fall of 1972. There may be familiar faces to Ohio racers in the group.

I remember him well, a true nice gentleman and a good racer. I hope that he had a great life. Rest in peace, Bill!
Steve, you look good in the picture too...

For racers from Ohio and elsewhere if you look in the background of the single picture of Bill Davis you will see the late Paul Hubbell owner, with his wife Donna, of the famous "The Slot Shop" in Elyria, OH. Another legendary person from the "golden age" of slot racing back in the '60s and '70s.
