We want the Facebook page back!

So... is someone going to call Ron?

What better time of the year to put the issues to rest.

So I take it that was sent to him on behalf of the BoD first, since all pages are gone now?

Howie, I doubt there will be any phone calls or Christmas cards exchanged, LOL.

As a casual observer and no party on either side, looks to me that Ron appears to be a bit av-818.jpg?_r=0tional in this matter... how does he own any right to the organization or the trademark?

Maybe Ron can explain that to us?  :nea:

Bill,

That's not correct, as Ron's posting and PM privileges were only temporarily suspended. He's been back at full permissions for almost two weeks now IIRC.

I guess it was in 5th or 6th grade - I was carrying a model I'd built down to the local hobby shop to enter it in a contest. Ran into some classmates on the way; one asked to see the model, and I handed it to him. He admired it sincerely for a few moments, then suddenly turned and slammed it onto the sidewalk, and stomped on it for good measure. They ran off, laughing uproariously.

That's probably the moment I started thinking they're basically two types of people in the world: those who build for their hobby, and those who tear down for theirs.

What I'm asking is did you file a complaint first and then in return Ron filed his?

That's how I understood it to be from your first post.

Yes, Ralph, the IRRA™ BoD opened a trademark infringement case with Facebook first regarding the ersatz IRRA page and the information in post #1 in this thread is Facebook's reply as to why our group was taken down for the third time (they admitted the second time was a mistake on their part) and why it remains down at this time.

Where is there infringement if both parties have different, although similar, names?

Ralph, I'm not going to debate this subject with you here on Slotblog. There's an enormous amount of material online that will help you in understanding the subject. Google is your friend...

Because, Ralph, it is a blatant trademark infringement in any court of law... in case you have not been living on this planet lately.   :)

Sorry, didn't realize that Ron was through with his time-out. I didn't see him winding everybody up on Freeblog :shok:  and figured he was still banned.

Well PdL, is the USRA United States Racing Association infringing on the following trademarks?

USRA  U.S. Restaurant Alliance

USRA  United States Railroad Administration

USRA  University Space Research Administration

USRA  United States Raquetball Association

All are similar yet unique.

Ralph, I really suggest you research this topic before displaying your current lack of detailed knowledge on the subject here.

Here's a good starting point: United States Patent and Trademark Office.

No because they are not in the same kind of businesses.

But, if the USRA (United Slot Racers Association) was trademarked (I don't know if it is) and you had another entity also called USRA, United Slot Racing Association, you would have a blatant trademark infringement.
I am sure that you are smart enough to see the difference.

Turns out that I know a thing or two about trademarks and what it takes to infringe on one. Ask me.

Ralph, as Greg said, Google is your friend. Look up trademarks and their use. It is not only the symbol but the words, etc.

Well, then if it was a mistake, and the IRRA™ trademark ownership can be proven, it should be no problem to get your Facebook page back up.

John, that is correct. They put it back up once then it went down after Ron did something else which, of course, they will not share.
