Today's Parma Checkpoint Cup Warm-Up Race was held at Buena Park Raceway on both the flat track and the King track.
Since this was dedicated to the Mayan Calendar maker who ran out of rock to inscribe, The New Millennia Race featured Retro Anglewinder Coupes and Can-Am cars on the Flat Track to start the day.
Brief results:
Can-Am:
1) Mill Conroy - 303 laps
2) Dennis Samson - 297
3) Jason Holmes - 295
4) Phil Nyland - 295 laps
The race featured a nine-man Round Robin. Thanks to race director Alex Freund.
Then we had the usual lunch break and returned to the King track for our Can-Am practice race. This race featured the ability to run multiple cars, and everyone really liked the practice format as it gave you a chance to test out new cars under racing conditions.
The King track race was a ten-man Round Robin, with the following results:
1) Doug Matthes - 329 laps
2) Alex Freund - 321 laps
3) Team Mutineers, Mill Conroy/Phil Nyland - 312
In the King track race, several racers ran more than one car, and we all had a great time racing and testing, Earl Mc Cutcheon frying a motor, and great to see new racers, Ben Cervantes Sr and Jr. running with us... Team Mutineer Mill Conroy taking photos, part of third place team with Phil Nyland! Thank you so much to Greg Carter for running the race, great to see Jeff Easterly out for a drive, and Jimmy Bling ran into some tough luck with his car, but a great race day had by all.
Next Saturday, come join us for another great Parma Checkpoint Cup warm-up race on the King track. F1 in the morning, followed by Can-Am after the lunch break!!! Who knows, maybe even a little RetroPro?
Lots of new chassis coming out, and good to see Gary Donohoe. Mike Kravitz was showing us his new painting skills with a trick Vinyl Cutter, and Dennis was showing off some new Spider smashers!
Thanks to the Wattersons for hosting us at the world's fastest King track...
See you next Saturday!!

No Mayans, none of the 12 Imams or anyone from the National Enquirer were present at the races yesterday...

I like the way y'all incorporated testing into the race format. It sounds to be an effective way of killing two birds with one stone.

Art Bell is no longer with us. He was abducted by aliens who wanted to know everything he knows about earthlings. They will be SOOOOO disappointed!

Hi & Merry Christmas to all slotracers out there.
Wondering why I do not see mention of these races on the race calendar?
I would like to attend to see the gang again.
I aim to come up for Checkpoint Cup in Jan, but if a race is on for next Sat, I might show up.
Am home, recovering from surgery to left 2-3-4 toes, with foot elevated & wearing my 'favorite'
footwear, a surgical boot!
But can drive and sit at computer to get the latest scoop!

Lee,
SCRRA races happen on every saturday of the second and fourth weekend of the month. So yes, there will be a race on the 29th as far as I know...
Bring your toe jam with you to celebrate the new year.

OK Doc. If I savvy the 'changes' of all things D3[If it is still called "D3" in SCRRA era?]
the calendar must not be inclusive of their racing?
Will someone set me straight, so I am not making faux pas & misspeak?

Lee,
SCRRA and D3 are now two separate entities. Call John Cukras or Bryan Warmack or info about SCRRA and racing dates.

The test racing format that we used yesterday went great. My idea was to let everyone run as many cars as they wished, since this was a practice, test race for the Parma Checkpoint Cup. Several guys ran multiple cars, and it worked out very well. Also, if you blew a motor or had a problem, you could switch and see what another car could do. Earl Mc Cutcheon, for example, blew a motor, and could have switched to a backup car... This really allowed guys to see under racing conditions how a particular car might run say on black or maybe on red, and it gave you a chance that maybe one car was set up with Alpha Wonder, yet another could be on Soft Koford or Kelly Purples.. ......
There was great acceptance of this by the racers who attended, and it all made for a fun, relaxed day and great support for the track. It also showed us that the new track system has a long way to go to get up and running before the Parma Checkpoint Cup. The new program does not have the Audio working yet, so it gave us a chance to see what still needs to be done ....
The Next SCRRA race is this coming Saturday, and as usual we will be having F1 in the morning, followed by the lunch break, and then Can Am in the afternoon........
Hope to see Lee Jet joining us this Saturday, maybe even Tore, and Gary Donoho said he would also be trying to make it.....
Bring your favorite Insect Repellent Chassis out and come race with us !

I think Mill has put together a great idea for the big race weekends in that the "warm-up" races allow racing/testing all in one. I was only able to stay for the flat track race and seeing coupes and Can-Am cars side by side was great. Everyone was getting their own thing done in a super casual atmosphere.

Wasn't going to chime in but when I saw that "Lee Jet" had commented. I figured I could too? Not only would I really like to make one of those races-but- I NEED to. Have some new cars this year and for me it is kinda like buying a lottery ticket--full of hope seldom rewarded. Glad you are practicing for the big event. I will get mine in the D mains. I'm Sooooo jealous
