This project sat on my bench for quite some time.  The problem was that 1+inch rear wheels didn't fit well and the car ran poorly with them.  (The body is resin and was produced by the late Doug Haynes – Resilient Resins)  After looking at the older Tifosi chassis (which is no longer in production a Scholer would work very well), I noticed that there were two sets shims that determined the wheel height.  I removed one set of shims and viola - The wheels still look "scale" and the car looks and runs much better.  Here are couple of images. To see more images click on the photo section of the Electron Raceway Group http://groups.yahoo....lectronRaceway/ and then look at the album entitled Rich's Cars.  (You must be a member to look at this section - it takes only a few minutes to join!)

Thanks,

One of my friends has approached a "clear body" supplier about producing a 1/24th scale Daytona Prototype.  My friend's idea is to have a Daytona Prototype series.  This would be great!  Everyone would be using the same body - the series would be a great chassis building challenge.  The series would be similar to the Can Am series http://northwesttrue...ic.php?f=2&t=32 of Northwest True Scale Racing

Anything goes.  Some are using the Scholer production chassis (these work quite will with added pans), some are scratch, one is a modified flexi.

JK already makes Daytona Prototype bodies, but a lot cooler looking.  Not these turds you see on the track.

We are having a 1/24" DP series.  One of the guys in the club is producing the bodies.  They fit on the ProTrack/H&R Chassis.  I don't have mine ready but I will dig up photos from the guys who do.

Update: Here are some shots of one of the cars:

I'll post more as the guys finish the cars.

Ah, very cool.  Is the car to scale?  What are the wheelbase and track front and rear? How thick are the bodies?  Can anyone buy these and where?

Thanks

I'll get measurements for ya and ask the guy who makes the bodies if he is willing to sell.  He does sell to the club so I suspect he might be willing to sell to all.

Man that is absolutely cool!

Here is the line up for the first race of the season.  Some cars are really, really closed to be finished and have to  be by the 2nd race.

One of the guys found a photo of the new proposed Audi DP.  So he had to make it...

One of my Slot Buddies, Ron L, was inspired by my Daytona Prototype and built his own.  What a great paint job (the image really doesn't do the car justice)

Nice.  What chassis is that on?

Scratch brass and wire chassis - small rear and O-ring fronts.  In-Line Deathstar power (mine is also Deathstar in-line)

Are these bodies available to the general public and if so, how can I get one.  Could be an excellent class for either Retro or FCR!

Unfortunately, Doug Haynes, the owner of Resilient Resins died a few years ago.  Our local slot club had a few extra DP resin bodies of his and they are now sold out.  Pattos Place sell a .5mm PETG version.  To to his website, click on New Bodies and cursor down.  It shows the mold.  Not sure if all other bodies on this thread are from Pattos or elsewhere
