Electron Raceway is dedicated to the promotion of scale hardbody slot car racing. Hardbody racing features scale model plastic kits mounted on production chassis powered by 16D or Falcon type motors (Occasionally we race some OSCAR spec custom brass and wire classes)
Electron Raceway is a hand-built, four lane routed wood track located in Roseburg, OR. The tracks footprint measures about 24x18 feet. Each lane is approximately 90 feet in length.
Racers gather on alternate Monday evenings or for special events typically held on Saturday.

Sportscars: two Ford GTs and four different Ferraris. My yellow Testarossa ate a gear, but still managed a fourth place finish. Jack finished first with his red 348 (#1).
The "Big Wheel" cars feature Scholer chassis and ProTrack 5/8" hub wheels. Again, Jack smoked the field, driving the Enzo on the left, front row.

How about this for your big wheel races - a model of a 2011 Lola B11/40 Le Mans/ALMS P1 class machine. The body is a carbon fiber/ fiberglas from a fellow in Europe who maks some pretty exotic modern LeMans type cars. Am using a Schoeler chssis modified by Jack and powered by a Falcon motor.

What a great car. I would be afraid to race it.

This Thursday's race was noteworthy in that Rick Thigpen (DC-65X) stopped by to see the track and meet it's builder/owner Rich Vecchio. Rick brought a few cars to "share" with the group and even ran a few laps with his yellow, balsa-bodied roadster. (We stopped practice to give it a clear track)
January 3rd - Rich's Report:
Six local racers showed up for the first race of the year at Electron Raceway on 1/3/2012. Participants had about an hour of practice before the races began to work on their machines. Bob Hanna showed up with his killer Lotus 30 and we knew that Can Am would be a tough race. Both races were run with European Rotation and with two minute heats.
Can Am Results
Driver / Car / Laps
Bob / Lotus (Blk/Orange) 90 laps
James / Ferrari 84
Ron / Lotus (Orange) 82
Rich / Ford GT-40 80
Jack / Cooper (Blue) 76
Clint / Chappie 70
note: Except for the Chaparral and the Ford GT-40, all Can-Am cars use Resilient Resin bodies by the late-great Doug Haynes. Bob ruled with his black Lotus 30.
True Scale Results
Driver / Car / Laps
James / Silkcut Jaguar #4 88 Laps
Jack / Ferrari Enzo #7 88
Rich / Porsche 962 #18 86
Bob / Yellow & Black Enzo #1 84
Ron / Enzo #36 79
Clint / Porsche GT1 #26 72
Jack's Enzo finished second to my Jaguar by mere inches.

Hi James,
It's a good thing you guys cleared the track or my tilting pile would have taken out the entire field as I barrel rolled across the turn
My thanks to you and all the guys for letting me test my Got Wood Revival Proxy car and visit with you before your races.
Rich's track (which he made himself ) is beautiful to look at and really fun to drive with a nice "flow".
If I wasn't a "lost in the past vintage nut" I'd be thrilled to be allowed to race modern cars with this great bunch of guys.
Thanks again, James!
I sure wish there were some other "vintage nuts" around. Getting together for a "run what you brung" day to share projects and Ebay "finds" again would sure be fun...

Rich posted today on the Electron Raceway Facebook page:
Electron Raceway will be open at 10 AM for practice on Thursday, 6/20/2013. We will start racing at about 11 A.M.
The track has been cleaned and sprayed. This week we will run True Scale and Can-Am – two of my favorite classes (bring additional cars - Daytona Prototypes, Grans Sport, or others if you like. I may run my 512 in the Can Am race).
I'll be down at the raceway no later than 9 AM to work on a chassis and prep the track. Feel free to come early if you wish.
See you then.

Covid update:
Electron Raceway has been going strong for nearly 15 years. Unfortunately, Covid interfered with continued racing in 2020. With the vaccines reaching the public at a brisk clip, We will opening our doors again soon.
Our first race will include an extended practice session due the long layoff. Generally we run three classes of cars but due the extended practice session we will have time for only two. I have chosen to run Early Modified (see image below) and a MIxed race. The mixed race is to include any True Scale car with the exception of GT1s. Below are a few images two of the classes of cars eligible for the Mixed race; an Historic Trans Am and a Sports Car. All of the True Scale cars run on production based chassis like Scholer, Scaleauto, Plafit, Slotting Plus and most recently 2NASTE
