The Parma Checkpoint Cup Retro Championships will take place next weekend, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, the 11th, 12th and 13th of January.

On Friday Buena Park Raceway will open at 8AM and the racing schedule will include Anglewinder Coupes followed by Retro 1/32nds on the Flat Track and the last race being Retro Pro on the King Track. Tech inspection will begin at 10AM for the Coupes and tech for 1/32nds and Retro Pro will commence approximately 1 hour after the finish of the previous race.

On Saturday BP will open at 7am and the racing will be Can Am on the King Track. Tech inspection will begin at 10AM. Buena Park will have a catered lunch for the racers that will be available for $8.

On Sunday the track will open at 8AM and the racing will be F1 on the King Track. Tech will begin at 10AM.

The procedures will be exactly the same as the Summer Western Classic with TSRD3 handout motors being used for Can Am and F1. The motors can be purchased on Friday when the doors open. No limit on the number of motors a racer can buy. All motors will be numbered and marked and as mentioned earlier may be randomly inspected or be subject to a teardown after the races. Motors will also be subject to possible inspection at the tech table.

To anyone coming from out of town the SCRRA wishes you all a safe trip! See you there!!

I would expect the program to run as follows:

Friday:
Tech for 1/32 at 10AM, followed by qualifying and races.

Tech for coupes at 1PM, followed by qualifying and races.

Tech for Retro Pro at 4PM,followed by qualifying and races.

Bryan's schedule:

On Friday Buena Park Raceway will open at 8AM and the racing schedule will include Anglewinder Coupes followed by Retro 1/32nds on the Flat Track and the last race being Retro Pro on the King Track. Tech inspection will begin at 10AM for the Coupes and tech for 1/32nds and Retro Pro will commence approximately 1 hour after the finish of the previous race.

So, which is first, Retro Coupe or Retro 32?

Personally, if the tracks are to be cleaned and prepped on the morning of the races, I would prefer to run Coupes first.

OK, here is the final decisions from the track ownership and John Cukras:

Opening hours:

Tuesday-Wednesday-Thursday: 12PM to 9.30PM

Friday: 8AM to ?

Saturday: 7AM to ?

Sunday: 8AM to ?

Track fee for all-day practice: $10.00.

This applies Friday for any one NOT participating in at least one of the three classes run that day.

Track cleaning and prep:

the raceway personnel will clean and prep the tracks each evening and will do so EVERY DAY. Both tracks will be fresh on Friday, and the King on Saturday AND Sunday.

Entry fees and tech times:

(Tech will begin at the precise time indicated and will close 30 minutes later. Any car NOT entered at the tech table on time will not be allowed to qualify and will have to start last.)

Friday:

Tech for coupes at 10AM, followed by qualifying and races
Tech for 1/32 approximately 1 hour after end of race, followed by qualifying and races.

Tech for Retro Pro 1 hour after end of race,,followed by qualifying and races.

Entry fees: $15.00 first race, $12.00 second race, $10.00 third race.

Track fee for anyone not entering any of the Friday races: $10.00

Motor sales: you can buy your motor(s) for Saturday and Sunday on Friday. You will not be able to "select" your motors, that will be pulled randomly from a box by the person behind the counter.

Saturday:

Tech for Can Am at 10AM, followed by qualifying, lunch and races.

Entry fee: $15.00 + $12.00 flat for handout motor (X by number purchased)

Sunday:

Tech for F1/Indy at 10AM, followed by qualifying and races.

Entry fee: $15.00 + $12.00 flat for handout motor (X by number purchased). Motors purchased Saturday may be used Sunday.

While the Friday first racing time is set, times for the later races may change depending on the speed at which racing will take place, at the discretion of SCRRA.

That certainly makes it simple enough.
