Lonny Getso of Waxahatchie, TX is setting up his SECOND genuine American Model Raceways track. Right along his masterfully restored Blue King now sets a genuine Orange track that will benefit from the same careful restoration Lonny did on the first one.

He even has genuine AMR power/timer boxes and a clackety-clack AMR lap counter. For the latest pics and news click here:

The Orange footprint in the photos looks almost as large as the King's. American Oranges were my favorite tracks when I started slotcars in the late 60's, but I haven't been on one in years.

Hey Bill,

I remeber all the racing we did at Modelville when they had the Orange.  It was always a fun track to race on.  I'm excited that one will be in my back yard again and will be racing on it soon.

Hi Ken,

Yes, Dick's Orange was a fun track to run on. With its straightaway humps removed & the epoxy surface, it was quite fast too. I had heard that track came up here to NH, maybe to Wiers Beach, but I've never come across it. You should have tons of fun on Lonny's Orange, once he is done.

Looks like the "hump" in the straight was taken out.  Less banging the wall!

NICE.......

In the 60s and early 70s. I spent a lot of time on both tracks but never without the hump on the orange.....Wings would thump hard...Many good memories........

Boy does that bring back some great memories!!! We had one of those in Pensacola in '88. A group of us racers redid it for the owner when the raceway moved to a smaller location with less rent... An all time classic design which none of the modern interpretations have come close to.

This is Larry from Speedway Slots in OH. I have the 100 ft American Orange that was in the "SLOT SHOP" in Elyria OH for 30 some years. I laid all new deck, widened lanes to 4 1/2 in, but put back the esses and the humps, epoxy surface and spray glue. Picks on our web site speedwayslots.com. Every one will love it.Guys that ran 30 years ago are back running again. Some still have not mastered this thing after all the years of practice. Back breaker to move, wow is the doughnet heavy.Have fun on it, we sure do.

Dragging out an old thread I know. But just trying to find out how Lonny is coming on the Orange. I tried to sign up on that message board, but was unsuccessful. I used to own that track, so it's kind of dear to my heart. Nothing like an ORANGE !

I love the Orange Monarch!  I used to race on it in Pismo Beach on up until the mid 80's.

Its only 100ft as I remember.  Black lane was the fastest on our track.  Those eses, got to do them right.   Ours had the humps down the straight smoothed out.  Have to blip for the bank !
