Lee Gilbert's daughter Alisha was really into eurosport racing a few years back. She was very very fast and won quite a few races over some of the top pro racers.

Good question Blondie and I know what you are asking but I think the names of women that no one has ever heard are also the Women of Slot Racing--how about the wives of all of us addicts here that put up with all of us!!!
Also deserving mention are the non racing women that will spend an entire day at a raceway. Two that come to mind are Ray Duran's wife Eva and Matt Bruce's wife Sharon. I am sure there are many more!!

Reminds me of a story. I was not married or engaged yet so it must have been about 1978. I was scrounging parts during the last days of Tiny Tim's on Woodward in Roy Oak Michigan. They had an H.O. track in the shop at the time. I see this little 9 year or so girl with a fleet of magnatraction cars turning some very fast laps on the track. it was obvious she had spent a lot of time running cars on this particular track. Her father was just keeping an eye on her and did not look like he was at all interested in racing himselfl. As I wandered over to the track I started marshaling her cars at the far end of the track for her. She immediatley upped her game as she knew she had someone helping her out. After a few minutes of marshaling her cars where she did not come out very often but was really blistering the track she turns to me and says, "I don't know what is about these little cars but I just love em." I hope she had a great career in engineering somewhere.

Alicia Gilbert is still one of the better racers in Eurosport in the PNW as Tom pointed out. She placed 12th at the 2004 USRA Nats in Eurosport. My daughter Jamy placed 8th in that same race. In fact in 2004 Jamy and I were on the cover of the SARN magazine for placing first (me) and second (her) in the PNWAMCA Eurosport class series race (I believe Alicia was third).
Alicia is currently in 2nd for the current series I believe. She is always one of the ones to beat. Unfortunately Jamy rarely gets a chance to race any more.

Back in the day in Holly Hill (Daytona) FL we had 5 women running races with us.
One of them was my teammates sister and her best friend. Misty Moore and Stacey. We called them Team Hair racing because it was back in the day when girls would do the puffy hair cuts.
I still talk to them to this day and they always bring up racing slot cars but don't have time anymore. Another one of them was married to my friend Dave Davis who passed away. He painted Illusion bodies and his wife name is Jeanie. I remember her making a few A mains when we used to have up to D and E mains back in our day.
We also had two sisters that raced and both of them won a points series championship at our track more then once and it was against all the big dogs at our track. There names are Michelle and Shannon Hovencamp. Both were real fast and always pushed me as hard as any top racer I've raced against. I've lost many races to both of them. I wish they still raced.

Top female alpine skiers enjoying a bit of slot car racing:
Swedish Anja Paerson (Olympic Champion and seven times World
Champion) with German colleague Hilde Gerg (double World Champion).
But none of them appears to keep their eyes on the ball, err... car.

Behind every racer is an understanding and supportive woman.
Whether that is a wife or a mother....
I managed to get both my daughters racing once. The older burned up one of my controllers. The younger drives better than I do. Soon as she graduates from College I plan to get her racing again. But I suspect the boy friend is on her mind more than hanging out with Dad at the slot shop.

I keep suggesting to my better-half (or SWMBO) that she comes down to the track with me to marshal and hang out with the guys.
She replies that she would rather watch the grass grow or watch paint dry
A woman in the raceway sure gets the language toned down.
Good luck and welcome Blondie.
