Saturday , Jan 26th was the first ever Retro Pro event held at The Track in Gaithersburg Md. The race was held following the scale races . As if we needed more fun after that.

After a short practice session that saw some really quick lap times. I personally turned a 3.16, and thought that was pretty fast. Then Randy Kohr ripped off a 3.0 followed by Tom Adams running a 2.99 in Red no less. I knew this was gonna be a really fast race.

Being we only had 3 turn marshals we decided that it would be better to have marshals rather than a race director so after the race button was pushed , there would be no track calls.

Cool tires must have caused a series of early crashes but soon things got setteled down. Randy Kohr took off early with a looked like a commanding lead.

At the end of four heats Tom Adams had started to close in. At the end of four it was Randy with 198 Tom 195 , Dale 174 , and Don with some off track time at 105. Tom Adams took over the lead in heat number 7 and never looked back. Randy Kohr was second , Dale Granger third , and Don Latch fourth.  The results and lap totals are.

Tom Adams 399 laps Fast time 3.081 in green

Randy Kohr 392 laps Fast time3.241 in yellow

Dale Granger 351 laps Fast time 3.460 in orange

Don Latch 273 laps Fast time 3.456 in yellow

Wow!

3.08 race lap. Fast race lap in the Checkpoint Cup Retro Pro Main was only 3.46., 3.08 is fast. Congrats Tom Adams, Nice looking chassis also.

Cold tires! yeah...that's the ticket. Thank you Dale. And the wrong body. The big cockpit and the clunky interior must have been catching air...a bit too retro for something this fast.

I cut and mounted one of the Mirages I just got. Waay better.

My motor was good. Able to match Dale's BLT with a 3.45. I've got one more idea for Tripod before I give it up.

Yeah...let's line these up again.

Voltage without anyone on the track was 13.98 . I looked while we all were running and saw 13.78. Roman has good clean power going on this track. I could be wrong but I feel this is the fastest track in the country.

Who makes the 51t 80 pitch gear? Biggest 80p usually available is 44 or 45 teeth.

O/S bodies? Really? I bet Parma is happy about that. . .

The 80 pitch gear most likely is old stock Sonic.

The big yellow 51t gear is at least 10 years old. I think it was a JK packaged product.
