Eight intrepid racers made the trek to TSS Hobbies in Monroe Michigan for the fifth race of the Michigan Retro Racing Association’s series. We would like to welcome Mike Kryk to our series as our 22nd individual racer. It was the Showdown in Monroetown as once again Rick Davis swept the house. First up was F1 where Rick Davis ran a commanding race with Nelson Swanberg several laps behind for second.

In the stock car race it looked like Bob Dempsey might prevent us from getting swept as Rick Davis had trouble early on allowing Bob to lead for the first three segments, however, most of us knew that was probably not going to last. Rick Davis ended up pulling ahead at the end for the sweep of the event. Bob Appelle and Bob Dempsey ended up duking it out for second place with Appelle just a few sections ahead.
The race was delayed for a braid repair on blue lane and for an unusual loss off power that took us quite a while to isolate. It turns out a piece of lead had landed directly across white lane and was shorting the power supply when the white lane controller was activated. It was right in line with the braid and the slot and just very difficult to see.
