Steve,

Thanks for posting the pics, there are those out there that have never seen such stuff...imagine racing at a commercial track with actual 3D scenery !   Something I've always wanted to do, with scale looking cars no less, amazing !!! :shok:  :shok:  :shok:

Peter,

You may already know this, so if you do please forgive me!

Look at the enlarged podium photo (bottom right in my post); the guy in the middle went on to be one of the best drivers there ever was, and the guy on the left went on to be one of the best chassis builders there ever was.

And both of them from "our neck-of-the-woods"...  :D

An interesting footnote to this race. Was just reading the July 64 issue of Car Model, and in the Racing East column by José Rodriguez Jr., he says:

"And last but not least is still the big one up at Wilkes-Barre, Pa. The United States Driver's Championship Grand Prix, July 18 & 19. Thanks to Bob Hurst we know the first Factory entry was received. Watch for Mike Morrissey of American Russkit from LA, and a team of ten drivers from Canada. It seems not so much the prize (a real '64 Sprite), but the publicity is drawing the entries. Watch those factory entries, fellas. They're out to win!"

Hmm, Ursaner vs. Morrissey in 64 - that would have been interesting!
