I would propose that the late Joe De Halle be added to the list of Western States winners, I know there are people of the opinion that he is not worthy of being honored in this company. I disagree and would ask that you vote or give your support to Joe being added, being excluded for not racing in the better publicized markets like California or Ohio is not reason to discredit his accomplishment. This race was open to all and just because the Jet's of the day did not attend is no reason to deny his inclusion.

I would definitely second that suggestion: Joe won that race against some pretty tough competition. I'm sure there were a fair number of guys who won these kinds of races, but didn't happen to get the coverage, and at least we know about the Western States for Joe!

Concur. Joe De Halle did in fact WIN the race, didn't he?
Says so in the race reports, both in Model Car Racing News (December 1965 page 15) and Rod & Custom magazine (February 1966 page 62).
So why ever would his name NOT be included in the list of Western States Championship winners?
Is Arizona not a "western" state, or would it mess things up to have a Saguaro among the Poppies?
