PvA Shows You How To Build The Latest
1/24 Open Class Chassis
By Pete von Ahrens
as published in Car Model magazine - October 1969
Compare this chassis, probably built around May of 1969, to Tony P's May 1968 Sidesaddle Sidewinder and you will see how much chassis design evolved and advanced in only 12 months. This is a left side can drive, and there is no motor box. Brass main rails are gone. There is a plumber hinge attached to the front of the drop arm, and the drop arm itself is sprung upwards, rather than downwards.
As advanced as this chassis is compared to Tony P's May 1968 design, it was essentially obsolete by the time this article was published. The axles are still 1/8" diameter, but by October 1969, 1/8" axles had been largely replaced by 3/32" axles.
