Dart Scale Racing Products Incorporated Bodies

Dart Bodies.jpg

DART (Scale Racing Products Incorporated) advertised in the major slot car magazines in 1965, claiming to be "the new standard of quality in slot racing bodies - with sales far exceeding expectations". Ummm...  Whose expectations?  In 1965 I was a teenager interested in (among other things) building and racing slot cars - what did I care about "sales far exceeding expectations"?  I wanted lower, wider and lighter...

With such an enlightened comprehension of their retail marketplace, and the expectations of their teenage and young adult customers, DART's new standard of quality faded away pretty quickly.  I have yet to find a single photo of a DART body.

Here is one of their ads:

So do these bodies actually feature the advertised "excellent detail" relative to other vacuum formed bodies? And of course noone can actually see excellent detail in a clear body until and unless paint is applied by a skilled artisan.

If the bodies were shown on a black background, you would see more detail. Closeup photos would have been nice, too.

Thanks for compiling all of these, Lee.
