Hello all,

I recently purchased a 4x8 Prazi Metal Lathe and need some help. I have the machine all ready to run, with one minor issue. When I purchased this item the switch was bad and not hooked up to the lathe. What I need is a manual for this machine. Or, if anyone knows how the switch hooks up that would do the trick. Pictured below is the machine I have and it needs to get running soon.

Any info that can be passed on would be great. All the local companies in my area that claim to carry parts for this item are pretty flaky and have been useless for the most part.

Thank you,

Craig,

Congrats on the new machine! I have the big brother to that lathe (Emco version of the SD300). There is a Yahoo group for Prazi lathes (http://groups.yahoo....azi_mill_lathe/). They have the manual for my lathe on there, but not the MD200.

You can try contacting the people at http://www.ismg4tools.com/ for more information on the Prazi. I've never contacted them. But they used to be (and may still be) the importers of Prazi lathes.

Here are some other links you might want to look at.

The sd300 I have is an incredible machine. I also have the HF 7x10 lathe and the difference is night and day. The HF lathe is very crude and not at all accurate. The SD300 is very refined and very accurate. It will likely take you a while to get used to the D-rail. But it works very well and allows for a very tight way system.

My guess is that the switch is a simple on/off with just two wires. Just plug in a new switch and you should be good to go.

Appreciate all the info Gary,

ismg4tools is one of the companies that was the most useless. They didn't know anything about this unit and not very willing to pass on much info. The person I contacted stated they no longer import Prazi, not even replacement parts.

I'll check out the user group and hopefully networking will be the answer. Also, I'm going to research the links you provided once home this evening.

As for the switch, not quite that simple.....It has four connections. Two white, two tan. I haven't traced them yet but I'm assuming one pair may go to the cap and the other to the motor. Just a guess though.

Again, thank you

If you join the Yahoo group, there is a file section that has images of the sd300 manual on it. Page 3 has a wiring diagram. I don't have a place to put the image where you would be able to get to it. But looking at the wiring, it is just a double pole, double throw switch. Please note though, that the sd300 had a reverse switch that the md200 doesn't.

I would guess the two whites go to one side of the switch and two greys to the other side of the switch. There are no wire colors on the diagram to know for sure. Plus the diagram is in German :)
