I'm not quite sure, but it seems to me, that I found an old pro car from Mr. Williams in ebay. I just wanted to have such an old chassis type, but after receiving it, many things came up very strange....

I will post these pics, armature with three colors and strange balanced arm, body stiffeners, front wheels split on surface, flatened axles, and other things looking not mainstream.Typical for that time....

Look at the pics, Williams is engraved in front of the droparm and I found the name Williams in the article of the big Nutley race, where Gorski won. Have a look at car model July 1969, page 14. May be the dokktor can help.

Not made by the famous Wayne Williams.

Custom drop arm.  I've never seen one that thick from that or any era.  Armature looks like vintage Mura.  Older Mura can with magnet shim inner can and longer can bearing.  Not to mention pentroof brush holder and slip over spring sinks for the posts.  Fronts are Riggen or pre-telescoping version Associated and the rears appear to be Associated.  I seem to recall a brief period in the late '60's when blue tires were used to some degree in some areas.  I think the axles are Riggen or Associated because I remember axles with ground flats being offered at that time.  They sold well, but were soon to be replaced with drill blanks.

Noose, Gorski, Eddie Sohl,  JJ(?), et al would have been active on the east coast when this car was running "in the day" so it will be intersting to see what their observations are.

Tony, Steve, thanks for your comment. And I thought : Even a blind hen sometimes finds a grain of corn.

Anyway, I like this one and I will try to rebuild it, have some old Waters/Bloom McLarens left....but the armature is broken...

Could it be a Lenz arm? I probably have its twin brother just a little used.
I remember some 1/32 kit was pretty thick brass - but probably not this thick.

It could very well be a Lenz.  I didn't look that close at the side of rotation.  The last vestage of the CW vs. CCW wars. At that time they had been absorbed by Mura or were about to be.

One other observation is the gear and an angled Dynamic spur.

Nicely built chassis using a Dynamic "Big Z" drop arm and Dynamic bat pans as well.

Here's another car featuring both of those items.

None of the east coast jet set would use that drop arm or pans. RVM fronts were the only choice and the angled Dynamic gears were relegated to RTR's, never used to race in anger...

Dieter,

what you found there is a standard Dynamic chassis kit assembled nicely by someone in the day with a few changes around the motor box, but definitely not a Wayne Williams chassis I am afraid. Williams is also quite a common name in the USA, not like let say, "Anthony Przybylowicz" or something like that... :laugh2:
The Mura-Lenz  motor also appears to be pretty standard, and can be dated from its wrapping and the pent-roof brush holders to at least the second quarter of 1969, but that chassis kit came in the last quarter of 1969 from Dynamic, so there you are...

The colors on the arm were marks made for pole identification under the strobe light for dynamically balancing the armature. Champion used A_B_C letters written on the poles with a  marker... Mura used paint. The front wheels and tires are Riggen, difficult to tell what the rears are. The body is a Dynamic McLaren M8.
