Where can I find the most current rules and regulations for the D3 Can-Am car regulations. Especially the approved bodies!

Ed,

Unless there's something newer elsewhere, I think they're on the website linked in PdL's starting post. Body list is there as well. It's dated: version V6, 11-5-2011.

Never forget that first place goes to the racer with the MOST laps, not the racer with the FASTEST lap

D3 no longer exists as a Retro racing entity, it collapsed in mid-2011 because of an unresolvable issue between one of its founders and most of the racers, who all bailed out and created a new series, the SCRRA. Today'e D3 activity is centered on "hard body" racing at Buena Park raceway.

For more information on this, please contact Keith Tanaka in these pages.

The D3 format did not die and morphed into the SCRRA, that uses very similar but simplified rules, that you can find HERE.

Philippe, Thanks for the prompt reply!

I looked at the D3 website and rules because it said D3 chassis on the package and the reason I ask is I have one of the new JKD3X25R1 chassis and am having a difficult time fitting a body to it and was looking to see who made one long enough to cover the guide and the rear tires.

I also tried to put the JK8745D3 front wheels on the axle and they don't slide on, but were listed as the front wheels to get for this chassis, if anyone knows which front wheels to get that slide on and rotate I'd appreciate it!

We do not use too many of those chassis locally here, but it does look to have a fairly long guide lead. It is likely designed for bodies that are rather large such as the JK Ti22, that is not legal in SCRRA racing for many reasons that are not going to be re-hashed here.
I am pretty sure that the standard "Kirby" Ti22 body that has plenty of replicas available from various cottage industries should fit, and as far as the front axle, looks to me like a standard 3/32" wire. The first thing would be to chamfer the axle's ends to fit the wheels and they appear to be the correct part number for this or any IRRA ™ or SCCRA (we don't care) legal chassis, they should slide right on. If their diameter is a bit constricted, a pass with a 3/32" reamer MIGHT be warranted but I would rather not try that first, as they might end up loose on the axle.

If all fails, please bring the chassis, wheels and parts to your local raceway where someone will help you with basic mechanical, or post pictures here and we will guide you though it.

However this is not the place to do so, and we will move these messages in a new thread in the proper place. :)

but it does look to have a fairly long guide lead.

It's less than 1". (940" ?)

The Kirby Ti22 should fit without a problem.

As far as the front's rotating, that a fairly regular occurrence.

K & S 3/32" piano wire usually will vary a few .0001" 's from batch to batch.

As PDL mentioned, first try chamfering the front axle, if not already done.

If that doesn't work, just dress the ends down a bit with some fine sandpaper or emery cloth.
