If you are refering to the model enamels, yes they will work. I have used the flat enamel on the drivers to get a more realistic look on the suit, etc. gloss on helmet. and yes you can paint them on the outside.

Plastic model enamal paint will not stick to lexan, but if you spray a coat of pactra white on it first the model paint will stick to that.

I paint all my interiors on the outside with either Testors alkyd enamels or Tamiya acrylic enamels, but for long term durability agree with Michael on first applying a base coat of paint made for lexan. I believe once the lexan is base coated, you can use anything from artist oils to craft store acrylics on top of them.
All of these were first sprayed with Pactra RC Outlaw Black or Indy Silver, then after drying overnight all the other details were brushed on with model paints...
To better match sponser themes, these Nascar interiors were done in various shades of Pactra RC colors first...
I have also used the RC paint straight out of the bottle brushed on the outside to detail drivers and engines. It stinks and is a little globby for brush painting, but will work with some practice. You can also mask off the areas to be painted from the outside, then spray a base coat of RC paint on the body and finish with the less toxic model paints as above.

I use Sharpie paint markers.
I've used White Out on driver's fire suits.
