Indeed!! In 1970 at the Spa Francorchamps 1000 KM Sports Car Race, Tore Anderson and I were camped in the forest literally yards from the track, and could walk across with wine bottles in hand while the race was in progress!! Ferrari 512's, Porsche 917's, Surtees, Ickx, Rodriguez, Siffert, et al..................and the sound of the cars running around beneath the Ardennes hills was unreal! To bad we didn't take any pictures........

More amazing than the narrow tires are the magnesium wheels with no venting, meaning that the already rather inefficient Girling brakes are cooking with little chance to evacuate both heat and brake dust...
The following year, Chapman got it right and the new Lotus wheels were a 6-spoke design allowing the brakes some breathing.
