... Not my special 'T' but I was very happy with it.

Nick won

The car was dog-*** slow.

Hi Bob,
I cobbled this together in a couple of days last year for my grandson's last Cub Scout Pinewood Derby. As a grandparent I wasn't allowed to enter the car, but I wanted junior to see at least some of what is possible...
For reference, here's the original:
Except for the stickers (which we picked out together), he was suitably unimpressed, and instead built his own interpretation of the mine car from Indiana Jones' "Temple of Doom".
Horses to water...

Cool car!
Where can I get Those Gator Stickers?
I decided to build/cobble a non-existent one off for my Step-Son Nick. It didn't race well, looks toe'd out .. but it wasn't.

Bob,
Except for the white roundels and the numbers, all the stickers (including the Gator) came from (where else) the Scout Store.

I use to put on pinewood derby building clinics at our parish. About 12 years worth of them. We had it set up like work cells; from design to cut to weight to paint and polishing axles then final assembly. The Cubs had fun and many a mom appreciated the help. No cut fingers or injuries ever. It always amazed me what ended up being fast. Loved it when a car that was thrown together with mom's help the night before the race won it all. The parents race was always cool. One guy made a four toed foot for a body to kick the competition. I always thought it would be cool to have a Boy Scout pinewood derby where they have to build and race their cars all in the same night. This woudl be for Boy Scouts not Cub Scouts and no parents allowed in the work area.

RTR Pinewood cars ... defeats the whole father/son bonding purpose. What a shame .. Mom is the only one there to raise the boy.
We built a Thingy ... tell me it's not a "Thingy 'Experts'"
Nice builds Steve and Phil ! .... "Race the truck"

BTW - raceways that don't carry PineCar parts and accessories are missing out on not only the associated profits, but also on the chance to get gearhead kids and adults into their shop.
Absolutely. If the marketing does not improve ... tracks start closing.
From the Pinewood test track to the dragstrip or home-sets to womps on the oval to FCR to Flexi on the big track.
Dads get hooked, moms get nagged, boys just wanna have fun.
