Since this year's theme at Bordeaux is Indianapolis 500 through 1968 inclusive, I decided to present and run a wooden car.

As there are no plans available for this body, I'll have to settle for photos on the web.

After determining the size of the car would be 1/24, I started gluing up pieces of wood to form the body.

I just saw Régis' car this weekend, and it's a thing of beauty! The chassis is just as nice....

And good choice, Régis! A very interesting car that was never made as a slot, as far as I know...

Awesome start! What wood do you use to make the bodies, Régis?

I like watching you true model-makers build up a new car!

Thank you, friends.

This was the first Chevy V8 in history to attempt a qualifying run at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

I use obeche wood (another name: ayous or samba). The same wood was used to make the bodies for the cars below.

Régis is one of the best scratchbuilders I have ever had the pleasure to know. Watching updates as they are posted.  :good:

Thank you, Jairus.

But it is very exaggerated; there are better than me on the web.

I try to make my cars beautiful above and below.

Making the two aluminum caps for oil and gas reservoirs.

The intake pipes were purchased from Jens Scale Racing and mounted on a small aluminum plate.

It is very nice site, there are parts and a beautiful gallery (1/24 only).

Hi Régis,

Another greatl project!

What a wonderful gift you have. Anything you see you can create (truly form "scratch") into a beautiful work of art.

Thanks for sharing!

Here is the finished chassis; in fact it is not really a frame.

It is very simple and made of brass rod of 2.5 and 2mm plus sheet 1mm thick.

Held to the body only by the rear axle, the front axle passes through a tube.

I use the primer Gunze, then the Gunze paint and varnish after installing decals Indicals.

This does not conform to the original, but I like the gold color with red numbers of the body.

Great stuff, Regis! Somebody should make a hardbound book of slot car pics from great builders like you, Rick Thigpen, Steve O'Keefe, Jairus Watson, etc.  I'd buy that book!
