We had 21 entrants for F1 at the season finale at Mid-America Raceway.

Howie, aided by a killer gear mesh, TQ'ed with a nice 4.040.

The C Main, round-robin, was competitive, with the top time for 8 of the 9 drivers,

spanning only .125, 4.459-4.584.

Our only non-adult race (beside Jeff Strause) Austin Milcherska, took the win with 305 laps.

Joining him in the move-up to the B Main, was fellow South Bend racer, Forest Hoover,

beating Jeff out by 2 laps.

The B Main was quite a bit different, with a full 1/2 second,  separating best times of the 8 drivers, 4.141-4.656.

Sano Dave took the easy win by 11 laps, over the 2nd move-up, Terry Watson.

Dennis Clark was 5 back.

In the A Main, Ron Hershman ran extremely strong, turning a track record 344 laps.

Sano Dave was also very fast, running a real nice 338 laps.

Howie and Kevin Van Pelt  were also both in the hunt, early, but mechanical problems dropped them

down to 7th and 8th.

With them dropping out, I moved up to, and held on to the last podium spot, 2 laps over Terry Watson,

a full 11 laps behind Sano Dave.

Your right Kevin, but I wouldn't think Mike would paint a pink car.

Jeff, cut him a little slack, Mike has been a little busy taking on the "Heat" himself. :)

Some of the toughest guys I know, drive pink cars. :)

With a 3 way tie in the the Can-Am points race, this race was shaping up to be a good one.

Attached File  100_9651.jpg   91.35KB   1 downloads

One of the co-points leaders, Sano Dave, TQ'ed, cutting Howie by a slim .006, with Terry Watson, 3rd.

With 24 racers and the prospect of running 4 races, or 3 races with a 12 man round up and only 2 move-ups,

Dave Geehring suggested we run 3 - 8 man Mains, skipping move-ups, and determine the results by lap total.

It was voted on, and Dave's suggestion easily won, with only a few racers not preferring to do it.

Attached File  100_9652.jpg   65.84KB   0 downloads

In the C Main, Jeff Strause put down the highest total, with young Austin Milcherska, running 2nd highest, 2 laps more than fellow

South Bend racer, Mike Wurn.

Attached File  100_9653.jpg   43.66KB   0 downloads

In the B Main, both Ray Price and Lee Verdich broke early, which left a pretty wide open track.

I turned highest total with 329, with Chuck Gambo, Dennis Clark and John Austin, 9, 10 and 11 laps behind,

with the 4 of us, all moving ahead of Jeff.

In the A Main, Sano Dave Fiedler hit a car in the finger, 3 laps into the heat, breaking his guide flag.

This dashed Sano's title hopes in Can-Am.

In what seemed at times, a rough and tumble affair, Terry Watson took the lead and held off Dustin Senft  and

Ron Hershman at the end.

Only about a lap and a half separated the top 3.

Howie Ursaner was 4 back from Terry, finishing 4th in the Main, and 4th overall.

My B Main total stood up for 5th overall.

With Rick Stagen finishing 10th overall and Sano Dave(15th overall) having no chance to recover from from losing

approximately 40 laps in the first heat, replacing his guide, I wound up as the Can-Am season points champ.

L-R Sano Dave Fiedler (F1), Mike Swiss (Can-Am)

On a personal note, I'd like to thank all who lent me cars this year, especially in Can-Am.

Thanks go out to Rande Marshal, "Manta" Ray Price, and Kevin Van Pelt.

Without the terrific cars, the above guys lent me, my Can-Am title certainly never would have materialized.
