Reunion celebrating the famed New York National Speedway, one of the top east coast drag strips in the 1970s.

 

Vintage racing, funny cars, pro stocks, gassers, etc. Memorabilia, photos, model displays, vintage trophies and people!

The only thing new is the mention of National Speedway. This event has been the funny car reunion/nostalgia drag weekend for the past ten years. They are reaching out to try and get some new skin in the game.

I have been to quite a few over the years and the funny cars just keep on coming.

The last time I went I was disappointed when I spoke to Bunny Berket and the boys and she told me her funny car was just not old enough to run at this event. I think it was a real early '80s Corvette.

HI Joe,

Don't know how the flyer appeared in my initial post, but I'm glad it's there now!

The New York National Speedway Reunion was added to the program from 5pm until 10pm Saturday night. I'm told there are going to be some related cars racing that night.

A few local area model car clubs (including the LIARS) have been invited to display in a special area set up for us. There is supposed to be a replica NYNS starting line/tower diorama to display our models on. We'll also have some old trophies, photos, memorabilia, ect. to see.

In addition to all the other activities going on that night, local drag racing historian Ted Pappacena of Drag Racing Imagery is going to be presenting a video and slide show of vintage LI drag racing.

*** Best news is... Pay your $20 to get in on Saturday night, and you get in with that pass for Sunday's Nostalgia Racing Event! ***

Looks like fun! Won't make it but plan to attend the NHRA Hot Rod Reunion at Epping NH in September. LOVE those 70's floppers.

And we got to see quite a few of 'em... still tastin' the nitro!  Also rails, gassers, ect. ** Bruce Larson was there for both days! **

I haven't made it up to New England Dragway yet, but I've talked of a future road trip with some of the guys.

There were at least a dozen or more vintage funny cars at the event. I didn't take any photos (still fumbling w/ a digital camera).

Sorry, but I can't help you with any links to photos from the weekend, either.

Maybe the Photo Shop @ Raceway Park can help. They take pictures all weekend as the event unfolds.

I couldn't find anything on the RP website, but then again, I'm "digitally challenged"!
