Hi Guys,
I found this natty Ackerman steering unit with independent suspension in some bits the other day. Any idea who made it? It sort of looks like it will fit the front of an Ulrich chassis. Looks like it's meant to have little stub axles for the wheels. Haven't worked out how they are secured yet.

Steve,
I'm thinking that is an Ulrich steering front end, but that's just a guess on my part. The experts will correct me, I'm sure.

Of course it is. Good guess. Ulrich had two types of front axle systems, this is one. Looks really cool. The other is a simple pivoting front axle.

Steve, here is some more info. Front "axles" are a 1/8" nut and bolt affair. One thing to note that there is a piece of 1/8" I.D. brass tube inside the "spindle" It is slightly wider than the aluminum housing. The nut and bolt go through it. You tighten the nut and bolt and the tube allows the "axle" to rotate freely. If you need better pics etc. Let me know. Joe
