The unstoppable Gary Hooks wins again!
The race was attended by 9 racers and was reasonably free of carnage throughout except for the occasional leap frog of cars onto the floor. The favorite spot of the day for this being just past the hairpin of the “deadman”. A happy note, there were no unfixable mechanical failures in this race, though there were a few bents up chassis after the occasional altercation.
Gary Hooks took a decisive victory in Sunday’s Bay Area FCR race, handily beating his follow competitors with 245 laps and a best time of 5.656 on orange. Gary skated past the seemingly few wrecks and built an appreciable lead over Justin Colvin (2nd place) to win by 11 laps. Justin finished with 234 laps and a personal best time of 5.706. Come on Justin, you’re getting close!
Speaking of getting closer, Wolf Immel took 3rd with 229 laps. Wolf is creeping closer to Justin on the race track as well as the championship! Also creeping up was Randy Tragni who was a lap back to Wolf and, while he tried hard to catch Wolf, just didn’t have enough micro horsepower to catch him. Randy finished with 228 laps.
A little farther back were a number of the Sunday Regulars. Ray Villanova took 5th and put in one of his strongest ever performances for 223 laps. Next up was Eric Jan (219 laps), David Springer (217 laps) and Richard Clark (206 laps). Also in the fray was Sunday Regular but new to FCR, Jon Carr (201 laps). Welcome Jon!
Thanks to official race director Sue Villanova, as well as Eddie and Janet Wong along with Mike Colvin for turn marshaling.
