Final IRRL Season 3 schedule:

 

Race #1 - Mid - America - Oct. 19

Race #2 - Thazer - Nov. 23

Race #3 - Mid - America - Dec. 2 (change)

Race #4 - At the Track - Jan. 4

Race #5 - Chicagoland - Feb. 8

Race #6 - Thazer - March 29

Race #7 - At the Track - April 26

Race #8 - Chicagoland - May 17

 

Below are the potential dates, marked with an orange "X".
 
Ones with an "X" with a circle through them, are somewhat doable, but not ideal.
 
We won't start picking until Monday.
 
In the meantime, I'd like to hear from guys who regularly run the the GL-ISRA series, like Bernie and KVP,
if IRRL races scheduled the week before or after those ISRA races, present a problem.
 
Also feel free to point out any other date conflicts I may of missed.
 
Note; there will also be an upcoming poll on IRRL racer preferences on the points standings.
 
Picking order will be;
Mid-America 1st  & 8th
Thazer 2nd & 7th
At the Track 3rd & 6th
Chicagoland 4th & 5th
 
If for whatever what reason, Mid-America, Thazer and At the Track, want to switch their picks with each other,
if they can work it out amongst themselves, that's fine with me.
 
As dates are picked, I'll of course, be taking adjacent ones off of the board.
 
As far as I remember, in the first two IRRL seasons, we haven't had to reschedule a race.
 
Let's keep that streak alive.

It would be interesting to know what the process is for adding raceways to the series, in the case that any in the general area might want to host a race.

No one has.

 

Bill Sebenik and Rick Drazy from  Eclipse Hobby in Bradley / Kankakee, have talked a bit about coming racing, but so far, haven't.

 

If I missed if or when WISCRS did, unfortunately, according to my computer, it's 4 hrs. and 43 minutes from South Bend.

I am going to try and make as many races as possible. I am going to concentrate on ISRA the most this year because my big goal is the 2014 USRA D2 Nats in Seattle. Have been building up the inventory already. If the timing is right I would have no problem going down to Strause's neck of the woods for a race. Went to college just down the road in Macomb and like the area. Probably spring would be best but what ever works for the majority is good with me. The more the better I say. Looking forward to the new season

Back to back is doable, but would prefer a week in between. Won't attend either a IRRA or ISRA scheduled race in the same month as a big event, such as the Sano, ISRA Masters or the ROC. Usually pretty burn out after 3-5 days of fun!

 

Jeff has supported a good number of our races, which should give him some consideration. GLISRA usually requires other raceways interested in hosting a race, to at least send a few racers to the other tracks showing their support of a series. Maybe he could drag a couple other guys with him to make the decision easy. 

 

I promised Nancy after my R/C days, not to do any overnight travel racing. A couple hours travel each way is about the max for me in a day. 

 

Like Bernie, I'm looking forward to another season. I've even been doing some building of my own.

 

Any change to our racing format, or is that better left to another thread?

Who is they? If the South Bend want to drive that, fine.

But no one has discussed anything with me.

And you have a bad habit of not seeming to realize there is a PM system.

I'd like some PM's from the regular IRRL racers with their opinion of adding WISCRS, in Gladstone, Il.

to the series.

I would appreciate any IRRL racer to please contact Mike Swiss concerning adding WISCRS to the schedule.  I understand the drive time is a huge factor, but this is something that PJ and myself have done for years with no wish for a race. 

 

Now we would like to open our doors to the IRRL and we offer one of the sweetest grandstands in the Midwest, great pulled pork sandwiches, and just some good old fashioned racing that you don't find anywhere else.  I bust my *** to make sure every race goes off without a hitch (mother nature I can't control).

 

Make one trip and you won't be disappointed.

I got the feedback I needed and unfortunately, the IRRL will have to pass on WISCRS offer to host a race.

 

My decision is based solely on distance.

 

A race held there would require a good portion of the regular IRRL racers, the South Bend crew,

to travel the night before and stay at a motel.

 

While the IRRL and the host raceways appreciate Jeff's and PJ's past participation, the series is based on being very affordable,

and overnight stays and 190 additional travel miles each way,  just doesn't go along with that.

 

We can proceed with the draft, starting immediately.

In the process of scoping out the dates for my picks, I realized I never posted the June calendar, or possibly

deleted it, while editing that post from my phone, with my semi-fat fingers.

 

I'll post it here and in the original thread.

 

Before I pick, I need the raceways to confirm, with Roger going first again, that it doesn't affect their first pick, or of course,

can change their pick, if they wish.

 

Sorry for the mistake and any inconvenience it may have caused.
