The first race event of the 2013-14 TRRA series was a well attended fun event. Shontel and Jay had the track well conditioned and as always create a welcoming environment.  The competition in Nastruck and Retro Can-Am was close. Most racers had competitive setups. 
 
Nastruck qualifying was extremely close with most drivers within .2 seconds of one another. John Myers TQ’d with blistering 3.974 second lap; Jay Howard came close with a 3.994 hot lap. There were 3 racers with 4.0’s too. Kyle Stokes took Concours with his patriotic paint job – nice work.  The final race results were close also with the top 4 finishers completing over 300 laps! John Myers took the win followed by Moe Callison in second and Kraig Beck finishing third to fill the podium. Good job!
 
Retro Can Am followed the Nastruck race and this race was a fun one to watch (I had fun watching … I broke my car L). Qualifying was pretty close in this one with half the field under  4.3 seconds. After the dust settled Tony Griffin was top qualifier posting a 4.020 fast lap. Nick Gray came very close to TQ’ing managing a very fast 4.051 second fast time. Most of this enthusiastic Retro Can-Am field qualified in the mid to low 4’s.  Jim Boone won the Concours judging with a beautiful Mac painted Ti22. The race was very close between John Myers and Nick Gray. John Myers took top spot with 316 laps.  It looked like Nick was going to count off 320+ laps as he was easily completing 40 laps a segment. However, motor problems forced him to settle for second place completing 302 laps. David Berry won the final podium spot finishing 289 laps to earn third place honors.
