Race 9 of the 2013 Bay Area FCR Championship at Eddie’s Slot Car World.
The Gary Hooks wins again!
The race was attended by 8 racers and was again mostly free of carnage. It was a really hot day and the heat got to everyone at some time or another. Still the racers persevered all the way to the checkered flag. Gary kept his cool and ultimately swept the competition under the rug.
It was another decisive victory in Sunday’s Bay Area FCR race for Gary Hooks. He beating his follow competitors with 241 laps and a personal best time of 5.707 on orange. Gary walked away from the pack and kept a comfortable lead over Justin Colvin (2nd place) to win by 3 laps, just enough. Justin finished with 238 laps (5 better from last race) and a personal best time of 5.706 for overall fastest lap of the race. Justin continues to close in on Gary. The real question is whether he can pull the championship lead out of his hat with only 3 races left in the season.
Randy Tragni took a strong 3rd with 233 laps and a personal best of 5.870 on green. Randy continues to close in on the leaders as the season draws to a close.
Wolf Immel came in a few laps back in 4th with 230 laps and a best time of 5.928. Wolf continues to stay close to Justin for the second stop in the championship! Can he pull off a leapfrog into 2nd place?
A little farther back were a number of the Sunday Regulars. Eric Jan (220 laps), took 5th and put in one of his strongest ever performances for 220 laps. Next up Ray Villanova half a lap back also with 220 laps. Closing in was Richard Clark with 218 laps followed by Jon Carr with 195 laps. Everybody is in there, so who’s going to win?
Thanks to official race director Sue Villanova, as well as Eddie and Janet Wong along with Mike Colvin for turn marshaling.
The next race of the 2013 Bay Area Championship FCR Race will take place on Sunday, October 13th at 2PM at Eddie’s. Only 3 races and 30 points left people! Be there for the excitement.

After the main event was the Outlaw FCR race. It was won by Randy Tragni with 249 laps and a best time of 5.219 seconds. He was followed by Wolf Immel (235 laps) and Ray Villanova (230 laps). Ray put in another really strong performance. Next up was Eric Jan (226 laps) and Uncle Gary (DNF) suffered a sticky gear and, eventually, a meltdown.
The outlaw cars are standard 4.5 inch FCR cars with Proslot 16D motors (sealed KEFX-2002, Chinese Arms). These have got to be some of the fastest FCR cars anywhere!
