Even more fascinating is the car that Kevin used - it looks like a Lou Pirro frame.
Those were run at the first Sano back in 2007 by Jay Kisling and few others, as I recall.

Dennis,
That is exactly what Kevin ran. And speaking of old, I ran the original JK Spec frame that you should be quite familiar with. Howie turned a 5.01 with it. Not bad considering Sano Dave TQ was 5.00 and Matt turned a 4.99 in the race.

I keep trying others, but it just feels right.
Just like an old t-shirt.

I like that balancing job Sano used on his rear tires.
I'll have to remember that the next time I see guys sticking small pieces of tape inside the wheels.

I find it fascinating how the same chassis design used by Matt Bruce to place on the podium in the flat track race can also be competitive enough to win on the king track.
A good chassis is a good chassis and a good driver is a good driver.
At Sano 4 in 2010, the original Z-rail Can-Am chassis I built, with 2 different drivers (none me- LOL) won Can-Am Flat , TQ'ed GTC-Coupe King handout (before the split) and finished 3rd in Can-Am King, behind Howie and Jay K.
Good chassis + good driver = good deal.

From my winger days, and tons of testing, I can say balancing tires or gears, while it can't hurt, is highly over rated.
Spend the time finding a crown gear that doesn't wobble or practicing on Red and Black.

KVP,
I noticed a lot of cars getting to much bite in Fiedler corners while marshaling the B.
Thought I would narrow my tires up a bit at warmup. Just grabbed a pair of scissors.

It is much more fun practicing on red and black.

One can practice all they want on Red and Black, it's the D'slots in White to Purple that kill you.
