My friend bought an older type Carrera "Top Race" set identical to this one:
http://www.ebay.com/...e#ht_114wt_1170
at a garage sale for $15.
My question is, will the newer Carrera 1/43 cars work on this track also ?
Thanks,
Pablo

If it is non-digital they should. If the set is digital I can ask Dave Kennedy (North American rep for Carrera) to answer your question.
BTW- that's a heck of a deal at that price.

Thanks MG !
The set is analog.
Yeah, he did get a good deal. Both cars run and both controllers work. (unlike the Ebay set)
I will be replacing the contact brushes for him, and giving the 2 cars a little TLC.
It will be an XMAS present for his 4 boys, ages 7 to 12.

Wow that will be a really great Christmas present.
Dave told me at iHobby that their GO!!! 1/43rd sets are the best sellers in their line worldwide. Expect to see more track accessories and cars coming in the next year.
BTW- I believe that the really beautiful Kyosho dSlot 1/43 cars should work fine with this set. Look here for photos of the Kyosho 1/43rd cars....

Thanks again, MG, I'll pass that along to my friend.
I replaced the brushes on the 2 cars, but I noticed they show signs of aging, wheels are dry and bulging, etc. .

Electric dreams has replacement parts for Carrera GO!!! cars. I think a set of tires and new pick-ups is only $4.99.
Note- supposedly Nick at Super Tires is coming out with 1/43 urethane rear tires, not sure for what cars or what the price is. You may want to contact them directly if you are interested.
My advice is to get the cars running as best as you can and if they play with the set a lot after Christmas, maybe pop the $10 or so for tune up parts.

Maybe make a scaled down jaildoor ?
1/43 plumber chassis anyone?!

No, not a jaildoor. If I go over there, I'm not going to go vintage, I'm going out to clean their clocks !
Do they make laser chassis wing cars in 1/43 ?

To add to the saga, I was at Goodwill yesterday looking for toaster ovens.
Saw a Carrera "GO" set for $9.99
Everything was intact. Took it home and tested it, both cars are fresh, work fine, controllers work, power supply works, all track parts intact. My friend picked it up on his way home. I wonder if the "Top Race" and "GO" track pieces are interchangeable ?
Anyway, my friend is going to have 3 happy boys at Xmas.
Maybe someday I'll go over there and test my Minicooper.

Carrera GO sets are really good. I picked up two Speed Racer sets after the movie crashed ('[08) and started exploring how close I can come to a SR Stadium Track like in the movie and video games. My photos are a portable 7 foot demo set with high bank and spiral doughnut. With the smaller cars and big magnet the Speed Racer GO cars are very fast. The Formula 1 GO cars are probably faster.
Here is a youtube title for a fellow who took it closer to the Stadium Track concept than I have so far. "Carrera Formula 1 Slot Race Track with K'nex" 7/28/13 by Theron Taylor. Great job Theron!
I hope to take it further by making custom track with steel braid for the magnets.

Hi 1/43 Folks,
Here is an update. I've been taking my portable tracks (1/24 and 1/43) to car shows and letting kids play to their heart's content. I accidently created a fun challenge when I tried to include Speed Racer Style stadium track features in a small track. The layout with steep drop, spiral turns and over the top loop was nearly un-drivable.
So I decided to take it along and challenge the kids to make a single lap! I even added nets so the errant cars flying off the track can be recovered quickly! To my surprise the kids were drawn to the challenge and patiently made dozens of attempts to conquer the "Monster". With enough effort they sometimes figured out how to make it up the corner, over the top, down the drop and back to the start. Each victor got a large trophy or other prize!
Each of my tracks has billboards on them advertising the local slot car clubs including contact information. My goal is to promote slot car racing in my area.
