From The (St. Maarten) Daily Herald, October 29, 2013:
Model car racing
McKinzy de Windt won the five race series at St. Maarten Speedway on the Great Bay Promenade. Malcolm Arrindell (l) was second and Frank Delamore placed third in the series that began back in September 20. A total of five racers competed in the model car, once a week heats, where the electric motor units can approach speeds near 100 MPH. De Windt dominated the series taking the checked flag in all five races. Arrindell had three second place finishes and Delamore two. Currently the raceway is opened on a limited basis. The track was damaged by a storm in 2011. Race director Reggie Coram was only able to salvage and repair a small part of the 128-foot long five lane wide track. The speedway is working toward totally rebuilding the track to international specifications and plans to host the World Model Championships on St. Maarten in 2014. The next local race day is set for Friday starting at 5 PM.
Thought I would share this article from the St Maarten Daily Herald.
Racing alive and well on St Maarten! Reggie is currently having a King track built by Gary Gerding which hopefully will be finished by the time I get there in February. Bringing some G12 wing cars just in case! Can't wait.
