Just a quickie before I have to go drive the early E-Type to its new home...
This is Hurley Haywood being interviewed at the Hilton Head Concours last weekend, leaning on what one could call a photo prop. Hurley was the honorary chairman for the concours this year.
Got a few moments to chat with Hurley and asked if they let him ever drive the car. With a big grin, he replied, "Oh, yes!".
Until I was reading some of the press material for the concours, I had not realized just how successful he had been in sports car racing: five overall victories at the Rolex 24 at Daytona, three at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, and two at the 12 Hours of Sebring. That's a record unmatched by anyone else, I believe.

Never forget that first place goes to the racer with the MOST laps, not the racer with the FASTEST lap
