Race 12 of the 2013 Bay Area FCR Championship

Justin Colvin wins the 2013 Bay Area FCR Championship! Justin Colvin ran away to the end of the final race of the season and Gary Hooks is a no show! Congratulations to Justin for a well-deserved victory. He just ran way ahead of the competition to a race winning 233 laps and finished 20 laps ahead of 2^nd place. He also took fastest lap of 5.869 on green.

The next 7 racers were all quite close all the way to the finish with lots of position trading until the checkered flag dropped.

New FCR hot shoe Garret Hightower took 2nd place with 213 laps and a personal best of 6.038 on red. Garret looks to be a real contender in next year’s Championship. Way to go Garret!

Richard Freeman took 3^rd, also with 213 laps, and gave some serious competition to his fellow racers.

Next in was Abe Braham for 4^th with 211 laps on the same lap as brother Gene Braham (using a Justin Colvin built car). In 6^th was Randy Tragni with 209 laps, who is still coming to grips with the Hillclimb.  Next up were John Moehele, Dave Hightower, Justin Smithson and Katelyn Braham.

All in all a good sized field of 10 racers battled for position and points and had a great time. Thanks to Mike Colvin for acting as race director and a lot of other Motown Folks for turn marshaling. The new venue appears to be taking off in a flurry.

Points are awarded to the first six finishers:

10 points for first place, 8 points for second, 6 points for third, 4 points for fourth, 2 points for fifth, 1 points for sixth.

4^th Wolf Immel with 60 points (nc),
5^th Sam Rock with 17 points (nc)

7^th Eric Jan with 11 points (nc)

8^th Garret Hightower (+6)/ Tyler Colvin with 6 points (nc)

9^th Frank Rotgaber (nc)/ Katelyn Braham (nc) with 4 points
10^th Jennifer Braham with 2 points (+2)

11^th Richard Clark with 1 points (nc)

 

 

Next Season: the first race of the 2014 Bay Area Championship FCR Race will take place on Sunday, January 12th at 2PM at MoTown Raceway.  The cars are cheap and the racing is close. This is a good venue for seasoned racers as well as newbies. If you’ve ever thought about racing slot cars this is where to go.

Comments about the picture order. The first picture is Justin, our season champion. For some reason, my picture is loaded in the second spot though I'm actually 3rd in the championship. Something in the SlotBlog picture loader went wacko here and Gary is shown in the 3rd picture spot but is 2nd place in the championship (after having dominated the season up until the last 2 races at the new venue).

In 4th is Wolf Immel, 5th is Sam Rock and 6th is Ray Villanova.
