Is anybody designing their D3 chassis using a 2D or 3D CAD package? :scratch_one-s_head:

Yes... I get to play during my lunch break at work. ;)
Solidworks 3D software can calculate the weight (mass), CofG, polar moments... :D
Yes, it still needs more work... :laugh2:

Hey Bob, that looks good! Now are you going to build it?

It's ironic, but your rail layout is very similar to what I have in mind. :)

What peaked my interest was a "Fine Woodworking" article on SketchUp in their Dec. issue. It's not as robust a program as Solidworks but it might have applications other than for furniture making.

I believe current D3 rules require the use of a motor bracket. The chassis does look Sano!

Now in RetroPro we don't need no stinking motor brackets! :laugh2:

I thought it was illegal to use CAD to design your chassis because we didn't have CAD back in the '60s.

McCurdy, you are now banned from all D3/Retro races. :D :laugh2:

Butch, sorry, you're wrong (again). CAD is allowed as long as it designs all the pivots on the same evil axis. :)

I used the drawing of the Gene Husting angle-winder a while back. It did make the build quite a bit easier than just looking at photos.

Butch, thanks for the honor of being the first to be banned. :D

Bob, while we may have a lot of old guys up here, we don't have a lot of old guys who can build and still drive a slot car. :D ;)
