I'm not really sure where to post this so please feel free to move it.

After a year or so break from slot cars because of school and other hobbies I'm back.

I'm a big fan of Cam-Am cars and after looking at a womp for a bit the huge rear tires, stubby size etc worked out to be perfect for a Can-Am based build.

I'm just using 3mm styrene sheet for now as it's the only thing I have on hand so I'm a bit worried about weight but there isn't even a class here to race such a bodied womp so there's no need need to fuss.

Also, I needed something to work on so I made the wood set up bored from a bit of cedar I found and just trimmed it up and put a coat of brown wax on it. Not bad for a 20 minute job if I may say so.

Thanks guys.

I'm starting to shape the side panels more, they're 3mm thick so there's enough to work with.

Also I bent in a part of the front fender behind the wheels as the 917/10 and a few other Can-Am cars have that.

A thin strip of styrene is run down the side to give the top panel something to mount to.

Thanks for looking.

When I looked at post #1, I didn't understand what you were doing. I wondered where the rest of the body was; it looked like a Gallagher car.

Now I get it.  It's going to look fantastic ! :good:  :D

Thank you, Paul! It means a lot coming from an artist like yourself.  :D

Top panel on and starting to form the air ducts from styrene tube. They'll be blended into the top panel once glued and vent holes drilled.

Also starting to shape the front splitter if you can call it that.

A bit of bracing added, it stiffen up the body a lot. I drilled them out a tiny bit to 'save weight'. Not that it'd actually remove anything for it to make a difference it's just for the look. :P

That looks awesome, what kind of glue do you use on styrene?

Once it's mounted, I assume it's going to be up off the track a little ?

The track braid recess is going to allow the car to sit even lower than it is here on your block.

If you already have this covered, forgive me, I don't know your experience. :)

Looking great !!

I use these two: http://www.yasu-ferr...MIYA_CEMENT.JPG Sometimes CA glue if I need a fast bond that I can just tack parts together just for mocking up as I can break the join easily as CA glue is a filler. The tamiya glues I linked, melts the plastic to 'weld' the parts, it makes for a much stronger bond but a longer dry time of about 20 - 30 minutes before you can move anything.

Thanks, Paul. Yeah it's going to be level with the bottom of the chassis so I ride height of about 2 - 3mm. I didn't know that so thanks for telling me. :)

I've only been to my local track about 5 times, I mostly do things with RC cars and models but because of costs of racing karts I'm having to cut down on those so I went to mix them both and have come back to slot cars.

Nothing much to update today because of waiting for putty to dry. Though you can see there's no seem around the air ducts anymore, still needs to be sanded smooth though.

And one work bench shot as it's actually clean for once.
