Speedway Slots and Hobbies has the old track from worldwide-known "The Slot Shop" of Elyria, OH, the 100' American Orange, that as been resurfaced, and a 160' MTT Red Euro Toy. Both tracks are up and running. Track Owners Larry and Nancy Harper, are looking forward to bringing slot car racing back to the north coast of Ohio.
I must say the 100' American Orange is fast. At the Grand Opening, Larry has set-up to have the #88 and #13 Thor Sport NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series teams. The trucks will be on display, along with several Supermodifieds from the area. There will also be a Silent Auction going on for two charities, Clothe A Child and Not Forgotten Box.
So come out and enjoy the fun. For more information on the shop location, go to www.speedwayslots.com.

It's really great to see slot shops OPENING in the heartland of the USA.
I hope that Ohio racers will be able to visit us in Chicago for the upcoming Retro, ISRA, and Falcon Series races and that we will be able to make it down your way before the snow flies!
Just call me "not a traveling wing car racer".

OK!... I didn't go there just to take this picture!... It just so happens that Lorain County Speedway is very close by. I've attended some Sat night 1:1 racing there for the first time this past summer.
Lorain County Speedway (lots of pictures)
Just to give everyone an idea how close this slot car track is, when I got out of the truck to have a peek inside (closed Sat) just right across the road and tree line was the big track. I couldn't see them, but heard the roar of the engines.
Looking forward to meeting Larry and Nancy this weekend!... Just so happens I'm in the area for a race!
Have camera will travel with slot cars!
Sorry, MG Brown, I cannot make the Sano...
Almost got the wife talked into the Richmond, IN, race though. We'll see how much snow flies here!

I never run on a track like that before, and I had trouble trying to go wide open and over-driving the turns, but in time with a bit more practice I should be fast.
I'll put some pics up soon.

Yeah, driving a slot car on a commercial track is quite a bit different from running on plastic sectional track, isn't it?

I guess I missed meeting you at the Grand Opening. I was at Toledo pitting an ARCA car. I work for the #88 truck, I am the tire specialist and front tire carrier for the team.
The #62 supermodified belongs to a team member on the #88 truck. I will drive the #62 Super at Sandusky Speedway next Tuesday. The owner Tim Sissons, who wanted to know if you can email a copy of that picture of his car to tntrivet@verizon.net
Thank you.

If you can't make the race next Tuesday tell 'em to give me a call. I might be a little rusty though, my last full season was 1977. Am I really that old??
Who drives the green 13? Guess the truck is full of peanut shells, too? They wouldn't even have allowed that truck to unload in my time!
Of course they didn't allow women in the pits back then either.

Emailed the picture... no problem... for future reference though, you can just right click on the image and select "save as"... then it will ask you where to save it on your pc... and its yours!... it's that easy.
I didn't get a chance to speak with the guys hanging around the cars, just snapped the pics, went inside to find Larry and Nancy... ran a few laps on the old orange track and then had to leave. Was only there about an hour.
How does a person get a job like yours?... That's pretty neat! Does it pay much?
Good racin' to you!... Bring home the checkers and the check!
Kind regards,

What about the Super Mods?Never did see any animals?
Great-looking raceway, hopefully successful business-wise.
Will they run D3 racing?

Excuse me, also like the orange Monarch I used to run on. We were able to deal with the hump down the straight on the Monarch, but the Red track was a drag. Steve has that same track in storage. Love to run on it again, one of my favorites.
