When produced I want one of those little egg shaped widgets that center the motor whyle on the chassis jig.
Uh-oh: another one that's not gonna happen, Joe.It seemed like a good idea at the time, but there're two problems with it.
First, it's ridiculously fussy to make. The motor slot took a teeny teeny endmill and had to be placed in the exact center of the widget (I believe I originally referred to it as "a Frammistan" but that's too hard to type), and the width had to precisely fit the T-slot of my jig...and then, we're counting on the jig's mfg'r to supply repeat accuracy in a place HE never intended! Forget that.
Second, I quickly found that there're better ways to do this centering thing. This widget had to be clamped in place to do its thing, and clamped against firmly clamped chassis components as well; which is a real good way to impart twisting and stresses into your chassis! - And if you removed the workpiece for any reason, you'd have to go clamp it all down again. Real waste of effort.
Much better to use axle collars on the jigwheel shafts, to keep everything indexed.
