Can someone give me a bit of info on the Airfix/MRRC cars.  I recently purchased the Honda and BRM below.  How well do these run.  How many different variations of chassis/running gear are there?  Anyway to tell which are the "slimline" versions without actually seeing the chassis?

Lastly, any hop up tips for the non chassis versions?

Thanks in advance.

These are not "Clubman Special" with the Slimline motor and aluminium chassis, same bodies but later modified to take [i think] the Johnson 222 [16d] motor.

If you look at the Honda, just in front of the rear wheels you can see where the plastic "U" bracket clip's in, these bodies can be converted back to Slimline or RTR [ball race split six motor and steering unit] as they are from the original mould. As for performance they are quite light so should go quite well on plastic tracks, steering's ok but probably would perform better without.

Thanks John.  The motor I've seen sort of reminds of a 13d.  Any idea where I can find a slimeline or two for sale?  Any other chassis anyone can think of, I'd love to hear from you.

The later one's used Johnson 111 which were 13D size motors, still with a plastic "U" bracket clipped into the body but smaller. These and other Airfix/MRRC bodies were re-released by MRRC about ten or more years ago fitted with a simple adjustable brass chassis using Mabuchi"S" motors, have the Eagle F1 and it runs quite well however I don't think they still make them and you don't see them for sale very often. The original Clubman Special motor/chassis do come up quite often on Ebay UK or you could try Phil Smith [UK dealer] who carries quite a lot of used parts and should be able to sort you out a couple of chassis. Good Luck

Does anyone currently produce urethane tires for these cars?
