Retro Coupe - Bryan and Duran fought it out again in Anglewinder Coupe on the Flat track. This year Bryan prevailed in another SUPER close race with Jerry Johnson third and East Coast Champ Matt Bruce a fine fourth

b2.jpg

Retro 1/32 - Duran was once again unbeatable but Matt Bruce showed how tough he is by edging Bryan in a close battle for second. Matt's little 1/32 car was a GEM!! (Pics in the race report.)

b3.jpg

RetroPro - Just a FANTASTIC race with drama every heat and the CLOSEST finish you can imagine! Matt nipped Alex by less than an inch! Tracy Chin ran a great race to third.

b4.jpg

Can-Am -  Just.an AWESOME field of racers here!! Matt Bruce slowly pulled away from Bryan with a great battle for third by the rest!

b5.jpg

Formula 1- Duran came from the B Main to win over Gary and Tebu. GREAT showing from the Tokyo Cheerio Speedway guys with the top three qualifying spots!

A full race report and pics of all the 2014 Parma Checkpoint SCRRA races will follow shortly...

Now the great experience for our Team Tokyo is over.

Thanks a lot, all the CPC retro racers, SCRRA, and Buena Park Raceway.

My dream  of racing in this great Retro event with my Tokyo racing buddies has come true since I had a chance to visit the 2010 CPC thanks to Keith Tanaka and Philippe de Lespinay.

We shall return.

Great Racing,

Haruki Kan, on behalf of Team Tokyo

Great event by all accounts! Well done! I bet Bryan and the other hosting principles are ready for a week or two of downtime and collapse.

Again, well done!

Haruki... It was great meeting all of your racers! Thanks for the great Lifeguard drinks for all as well!

Haruki, Tebu, and Kamo - great TQ efforts in F1!

To Jerry Johnson and TJ for their efforts that got Jerry into the F1 main but race luck kept him from what would have been a great battle for the top step!

To Bryan Warmack for all his efforts to keep us going this weekend and all the work he has ahead of him this week to post more results and pics!

To my back... that allowed me to come a see all the great race action this weekend...

This event takes its rightful place with the historic races of slot car's past and years from now those of us that are left would wish that we had been there on that weekend.

The racing was great and the competition to win was great.

I missed you Jersey John, maybe next year.

I wish everyone a blessed year.

Thanks again to Jay Kisling, who helped race-direct and set up the computer for some of the races, and to Wes Pikunis, who helped many a racer fix their broken cars during the weekend. These guys lent a hand even as out-of-towners...

I think we all saw this weekend that there is no rift between the IRRA™ and the SCRRA. It is all good when the racing comes together...

Anyone else getting an error when clicking on Eddie's link?

On the note Mill mentioned with the generosity on the NJ crowd, I would also like to thank Jay Kisling for having an extra motor to use that got me my third podium in the F1 race.

Even though I wasn't able to get beyond the D Main it was quite satisfying winning the F and E Main and placing second in the D Main. Not bad, got to race in three of the six!

Thank you, Wes and Mike, for keeping us in stitches all weekend long. And it was a pleasure meeting Matt Bruce. Of course, It was great to see Howie, John Gorski, Tom Hansen, Dennis Rios, and all the out-of-town folks that made this race.

One other thing, the folks coming over from Japan made a great showing at this years event. I hope they all can make it back again next year.

Now, as far as entry numbers, Mike Bloes... I know there were 42 entered in F1, 57 in Can-Am, at least 15 in Retro 32 and 16 in Retro Coupe.

Oh darn, forgot to give Barney a huge thank you for coming down and pitting for me in the F1 race.  Even with his back bothering him he worked as hard as I did, only putting my car on the track backwards once. LOL

Thanks to the racers who took the time, effort, and expense of traveling many miles to attend the 2014 Checkpoint Cup.

It was great to see the east coast boys again; they are great racers and fun to hang out with. Super to meet Matt Bruce and to get to experience his racing ability firsthand.

I sincerely hope the Japan group enjoyed themselves. They did a great job, especially in F1. It was fantastic to meet in person my friend Kamo-san. I had the pleasure of racing a KAMO-DIO chassis in F1. A special bond with Haruki and Kamo-san that started in the summer of 2011 has made much of my slot racing success possible.

I raced a Don Campbell chassis in Can-Am and it was really quick. Thanks, Don, for your friendship and guidance, I very much appreciate your knowledge and ability, and with your help I have upped my game.

I love pitting next to Terry Schmid, we had some fun, and I will look forward to the next time.

Thanks to all of the many people who helped organize and run this event. I want to say special thanks to Bryan for his undying efforts, TJ for effort above and beyond the call of duty doing track prep, and Mill/Dennis Samson for creating the very special award plaques.

To my slot car buddies from near and far, thanks for the memories.
