Does anyone out there have one of those long mag dragsters from the 60's?

I have one that I showed in the current padlock proxy thread, but it's not in great shape, and I had to work up a new drop arm on it...

Did you just want to see photos, or are you looking for one Rick?

The REAL ones were ALL hand cut from 1/8 x 1 x 12 inch sheet stock - NOT those flimsy stamped aluminum shorties.  I know mine if it turns up on an ebay sale......

Hi, Somewhere I have the remains of the magwinder I won the last MINRA drags Top Eliminator with. It used Kemtron laminations and a Ram 6 volt armature. My last drag build was a magwinder with full Ram laminations and armature. It was much nicer than the other. I ran it once at J&J, I believe it ran around 1.10 or 1.05. Unfortunately my painter through it out. All the Best, Sandy

These re-pops have been working out well and are been put to good use.

Rick, Thanks for supporting vintage drag racers with these .... is there a second run in the future?

Capt. Rick has a NOS K&B Dragster still under plastic that would like to hang on to. He send me a detailed hand drawing of it and asked if it could be done? It's been almost a year since we started talking about this project. One thing after another kept pushing it back on the shelf. Today I dusted off some notes and finally have come up with a beginning for him, so he can save an original. Probably end up being a one off for him. One more part to make and it will be a completed set of a genuine K&B, but aluminum not mag...............Still have some things to work out and I think the drop arm from the other dragster I made would be a better option than the original?

Thanks to Bob for sending some vintage 36D mounts. The new project will be to adapt the 36D to the vintage style rails as a side winder and/or inline. It will have the "look" but be able to use the more easily found 36D motors. Still rather vintage in reality. I understand the pad lock motors are getting tougher to fine?? Stay tuned, I will post when I have something. There is no particular due date, just as I find time for this...................

Very cool... Rick!

The new kit looks great. It's got the slotted holes for mounting more motor brands and tires sizes. WTG.

Suggestion for padlock front rails:

Countersink profile the slots on the front rails for clearance of the screw to brush arm by using flat head screws.

Do one rail on one side and one on the opposite side of the other rail.

it works....
