In a series of slot car models of the cars that raced on our local track, Jyllands Ringen in 1965-1971, it is hard to avoid the iconic Abarth cars. This is the Abarth 1000 Gr.2 car.

Body, decals, and interior details are homemade and available on demand.

Body made in GRP from a Gunze plastic kit master and silicone mould. Engine lid is also in thin GRP.

Body is painted and has received my laserprinted decals.

Window frames and other details has received a coating of Bare Metal Foil chrome.

Brass struts supports the engine lid.

Vacformed engine copy is visible inside. The exhaust is made in GRP reinforced resin.

Another shining example indicating why Niels has his own subforum!

Never forget that first place goes to the racer with the MOST laps, not the racer with the FASTEST lap

Beautiful car, Niels. Impeccable workmanship. :clapping:

Thanks for the kind words.

I am also working on another Abarth, this is the actual Gunze plastic kit body which I am building for an old friend:

This is going to be the 1970 car on Danish GT champ Son Borch-Christensen - Martin, the son of Son (!) is a slot racer as well as a keen historic racer (1:1 scale).

I've always loved that Abarth! Beautiful build :good:

I've been thinking about acquiring one of the Gunze kits. I'd love to see your lovely work progress on that one too :)

Hi Rick, those Gunze kits are very rare and not easy to find. That was the reason why I make Grp. kits of this and similar cars for our (hopefully) coming DSV-class. DSV is Danish touring cars from from the 1965-1971 period.

IMG_7389.JPG

Tamiya makes the Alfa Romeo Junior GTA and the Mini Cooper, and NSU 1000TT, Ford Cortina and a few others are made in GRP by German guys, but other suitable cars for the class is harder to come by.

I therefore make and sell slot car body kits of The Abarth, Porsche 911S, Ford Escort Mk.I TC and the Saab 96. i also make some vacformed interior details and 13-15mm resin wheels inserts: https://picasaweb.go...etro124DSVParts

More cars here: https://picasaweb.go...etro124DSVParts

Sorry about the shameless advertizing here, but it is more about helping fellow hobbyist to get the parts, than makes a business out of it.

yours, Niels DK  :)

Hi Race Leader, are you still doing these shells? Please advise pricing. I'm also interested in the finished shell (with stickers).

If you can reply by e-mail to birdseed@hotmail.com please as I can access that from my office.

Many thanks and Best regards,

Mike "Birdseed" Thomas
