If you missed seeing the 2013 movie Snake and Mongoose when it was in theaters, now is your chance to catch up. The film, based on the lives of Don “Snake” Prudhomme and Tom “Mongoose” McEwen covers the early years of sponsored drag racing, and features tons of original footage from the ’60s and ’70s, as well as special guest appearances by Snake, Mongoose, and several contemporary drag racers. It’s a family friendly movie, perfect for introducing your kids to the history of nitro racing. Just be prepared to track down some Hot Wheels collectibles after they’ve seen it!
 

On demand and digital downloads should be available March 4, 2014 and Blu-ray and DVDs on April 8, 2014.

Bob- I saw the movie in the theaters and enjoyed it a great deal. Best part was all of the old period correct race and street cars, clothing and props!

I can't wait to get it!  My uncle was a mechanic and after doing 2 combat tours in Vietnam with the 101st Airborne used to take me and my cousin when he came back home to US30 Drag Strip in Indiana.

 

We had the Hot Wheels Snake and Mongoose funny car set.  One of the best toys ever.  And; we fell in love with slot cars when Uncle Ed built a permanent slot car layout at his house for us. 

 

There was a car that raced at US30 and on rare occasion would make appearances in Valparaiso, IN for Friday cruise night.  It was a T-Bucket gasser painted up nicely as "Bucket of Blood".  I have searched all over and come up empty trying to find any pics or info. about this car.  If anyone knows anything about "Bucket of Blood" please PM me. I'd really appreciate it!  :)

 

We saw Big Daddy Don Garlits race at US30 and I had the opportunity to thank him for the memories in person at the nostalgia drag race weekend 2 years ago in June at the Beach Bend Drag Strip in Bowling Green Kentucky (the annual event is Cacklefest .. it's a thrill!).  Mr. Garlits loves the crowd, is full of energy and looks like he's 60!  

 

How many of us built the Snake and Mongoose funny car model kits as kids too?  Raise your hand .. I know Ya did!  :)

Yes ... When I saw Pam up close at the bar with Jungle Jim Liberman and all the other local stars like Jenkins and Zul.

 

Stopping at Bob's Berserko Lounge on RT.527 after a Wed. night match race my eyes Were popping out far enough to get poked out... :shok:

 

The bar owner Bobby Dorr .. we just called him 'Berserko' was also the announcer at the track ... if you watch NHRA on TV currently, "Stat Boy" was his little back-up when Beserko came down out of the tower to tug on some Hawaiian Punch ..... what a trip.

 

OMG   :crazy: the 70's were so Great!

 

My first 1:1 tool box ... Since 1973.

Last I was told, the Super Snake dragster is in the final stages of restoration and hopefully will be on hand for the Mustang 50th Anniversary celebration.

Hello ... Mr. Brown,

On the shirt,.... the printing is not as nice as that one you show .... it doesn't have the NHRATM logo due to licensing agreement issues but the wrinkles are much more pronounced.
