Unfortunately the Holiday Inn that we have used for several years now, as well as several others nearby, have really cranked their rates up this year due to high corporate bookings I am told. The only hotel in that area willing to work with us this year was the LaQuinta Inn which was recently remodeled from a Days Inn. The hotel manager tells me that his rooms are generally larger than the others in the area. A free continental breakfast is available each morning with at least two hot items. The manager seemed very eager to work with us while most of the others were not. He gave us a rate of $76.50 if you mention the R4 block when making your reservations. It is only a few dollars off their normal rate but if we show we can fill rooms the rate will get better next year. So, if you choose to stay here please use the R4 block rate to build a history with the hotel. I have attached a list with map of the other area hotels.

Along with losing the Holiday Inn we also MAY have lost the room for the Bench Race Bash. It seems the old GM of the hotel and the activities director, both of which I worked with, have left the company. And, it appears, my standing reservation went with them. More info to come...

Manta Ray and I found an empty "dive" sports bar just down the street. Maybe they would bite. it was in a strip mall (poor condition), but plenty of parking!

How many rooms do you have blocked? The local Chamber of Commerce will usually kick in some money to the local track for every room booked for the R4 block if it is over ten nights, not just rooms. I know of almost that alone coming from Tennessee.

Just a thought to help with expenses. Thank you for giving us a place to race.

Thanks for the suggestion, Will. I'll look into it. But I'm not going to get my hopes up. Past history has shown that our city leaders are only interested in the more "refined" activities. We have 20 rooms blocked.

And you're very welcome. THANK YOU for supporting us.

Leave it to you two to find the "dives". :D Do you remember the name?

Buffalo Wild Wings is just a few blocks away. That may fit the bill also.

The place is like a magnet I am drawn to it when I go to Columbus. They hawk some of the best chicken wings in Ohio. Also they don't zap you on their prices.

I got a room at the Red Roof (Hilliard.) I did a search online for coupon codes and got a great deal about $220 for four days!
