Just another unusual item from the pile. You know they don't ship items like this anymore. The bag, which I assume had tires in it, was just closed with string . :shok: Notice the other cool things like the handwritten address and the six-cent Teddy Roosevelt stamp (who's L.I. house is about 20 miles away from me ) by the way. Six cents, really?

Anyone know Mark Wasmer from Easton, PA?

Unfortunately, the letter inside is long gone. I am going to go out on a limb here and guess this may have held at one time some special tires. I remember seeing a promo ad by Candies saying you could win one of a kind Candies at your raceway. I have a couple pairs of very unusual Candies, one of which came in the lot with this bag. My only other guess would be a sample or warranty set. Who knows?

Enjoy!

Joe, the same bags were used by Champion for their armature balancing service!  :)

Nice find Joe !

Yes, Typical packaging for the era.

If you purchased most any hardware for a project like a lawn mower or mini bike repair that is how it would come mail-order.

This song was from the same era .... "I know a tire that's soft and ... " lol

OK, I found at least one set of the weird ones. These are just as found. Red,White and Blue swirl on black rims. Has anybody ever seen these? I do not think they were regular production items.

I haven't seen that pattern, but I wouldn't even begin to guess all the different patterns that Candies made! The only one that really struck me at the time was what I think they called the "Black Mariah", with a clear tire around a black hub... Anybody have a pair of these?

Candies are still the best silicones you can find...

Don, I do have the Black Moriah's ( I think that's how they spelled it ) somewhere but I have to find them.

Here are some "clears" on chrome rims.

Don, As usual I am in full agreement with you regarding variations. Here are just some of my NOS ones and I have a lot more loose. There are many sizes as well and variations on the colors. Many different shades of the same color.
